OOS and CtD issues in multiplayer

When a friend and I attempt to play multiplayer FFH, we get OOS'd when the game starts. In the past (albeit not with this friend), when I've had OOS at the start of a game, I have been able to save and reload the game and then have no problems. However, doing that in this case causes a CtD with "memory allocation error" coming up. This only comes up on the end of the person who is NOT (edited) hosting, and arises independent of using external IPs or hamachi IPs.

Vanilla BTS does not OOS; I can't remember if we could successfully load in vanilla BTS.

Any ideas?
 
I've had similar problems too. My multiplayer game would work fine until we tried to re-load it, and then it would go OOS. It only happens with FFH and FF games - the normal BtS multiplayer games work fine. We even set up games with the DEBUG (no random events) option selected. Does anyone have any ideas about how we can prevent this from happening?
 
Most people who play FfH MP do so using Tholals mod.
