Pharaoh

Yes but your city can build Swedagon. After all, Heliopolis has the gold which speeds it up. I agree about the GE for AP. We can build it swiftly and then get to Free religion quickly.

Then we are set up to dictate the wars on this landmass, with SoZ to hurt our enemies.

I like the plan!

It is 11 turns in my city to build either SoZ or the golden palace by the way!

I count 5 votes to go to war. I think Cabledawg would also agree.

Slobahotep, please take the save from 1050 an unleash hell on France.

I belive we should switch to OR, build a Confucian missionary , send it to Heliopolis, convert to Confucianism, build AP for one turn, then have the GE finish it, (against Wen Amon's advice) then switch out of reigion so as not to antagonize Catherine

Regarding the war, I have given movement orders to most of the troops remaining from the war with India. Perhaps it leaves the Sumerian border a little lightly defended. Up to you.

I recommend , when we arrive at Civil service that tech be turned off for a turn or so to upgrade the promoted axes and swords to maces.

Thebes can continue to build catapults.

After AP please start Swedagon in Heliopolis as requested, and of course, follow Wen Amon's instructions for Wen Amon city.

I agree with Cabledawg that the great general, remaned Pawelo , should be joined with our medic2 chariot to become medic3 with extra withdrawl chance.

SOZ in Memphis is fine....war with the french is fine. Most of our cities are Buddhist, why dont we switch to buddhism? We have 7 with buddha and 2 that are confused. If we go Confucianism, we have alot more spreading to do......all our cities need it to be able to build the production modifiers like monastaries and temples. The +2:hammers: they give is huge.

I vote for moving the capitol to Heliopolis...that city is a production powerhouse. Whatever decision on the AP palace the group decides is fine. I cringe at the thought of using a GE on it though. I would rather see the Engy settled in Heliopolis and build it normally....but thats just me.

We are 16 turns from a gret prophet out of Orleans. We could use a scientist next. If we run 2 scientist out of Paris or Thebes, it shows as 17 turns......so after Orleans gets the prophet, it wont be long before we get a Scientist, Merchant, or Engineer.

At Valley of the Kings...it has a corn thats not irrigated. You can put a farm 2S of the iron and then 1E of the corn

Ghandi has 1 city, Thebes could build 2 galleys so that when our Army is done with the french, they could move right on over to Ghandi's last city and we could remove the "We yearn to join the motherland" penalty.

Slobahotep emerged from his manse in a good mood. It was time to end the French and their land-stealing, garlic-planting ways.

The initial order of business: converting to OR so we could build a few confucian missionaries for a Confucian AP.

Work was begun on a Confucian Missionary in Paris, to be sent to Heliopolis. In the meantime, Chicen Itza had completed elsewhere, giving us lots of cash from Memphis' partial completion of the wonder:

After converting to Confucianism, Ptolemy, the Great Engineer, rush-built the Apostolic Palace in Heliopolis:

And shortly thereafter, we finished Civil Service and switched to Bureaucracy:

As an aside, I took no action to switch capitals during this round. I will defer to Pharaoh and his Council for such weighty matters. I point out that Heliopolis or Memphis would benefit greatly from the Heroic Epic. Memphis finished the Statue of Zeus, by the way.

I stopped research as instructed and focused Egypt on making coin for upgrades to our key units. It was done, and Literature was quickly researched. I decided to go for Music next, to allow the construction of Cathedrals and hopefully give us a free Great Artist for a Golden Age:

In the meantime, Pharaoh won the election to the AP, though the stinking Little Corporal received everyone else's votes ...

Pawelo was merged with our medic Chariot, and is now Medic III / Flanking I.

For diplomatic purposes, we switched back to No State Religion, though Paris was still making confucian missionaries so that the rest of Egypt could build super-temples and super-monasteries.

Just before we set out to conquer Nappy, Gilgamesh decided to plant a city between Egypt and Wen Amon ... grrr

Heliopolis (truly a production powerhouse -- aren't you glad you settled near the hills, Metahu?) then finished this:

It was time.

"Sound the horn! Egypt rides to victory!" Slobahotep mounted his chariot and deferred to Wen Amon and Pawelo, who directed the formation of the host.

The war was brief. The pathetic French defended with a few archers. Mighty Egypt lost but one catapult. France was defeated!

An overview of the Northern border:

and foreign relations:

Some final notes:

We have a ton of workers. We will soon run out of things to do for them, though Rheims must be developed more and we have more irrigating to do now that we have Civil Service.

I have turned Valley of Kings into a priest-specialist location. Please spread as many faiths there as possible and build as many temples as possible.

I have started building the Great Library in Paris, as it has excellent commerce.

I think we need to engage in a short war with Gilgamesh to push him back a bit.

We need to start allocating our national wonders. Some ideas:

Thebes: National Epic / National Park or Moai Statues
Heliopolis: Ironworks + Palace
Memphis: Heroic Epic + West Point
Wen Amon: Wall Street
Paris: Oxford

Stupid Assumption/Question: moving the Palace counts as a National Wonder, yes?

That city that you beared friend settled changes things a lot.... We need to have that spot, even for connection issues ( and the phants too ). I'm quite reluctant to admit it, but I think that we have to DoW Gilgamesh...

Glory to you Slobahothep, for your quick but successful campaign.

Also, for your prosperious reign over Egypt, and many nice wonders.

Too bad for this Sumerian city, I think it might be interesting to do a hit and run on it.

As for the capital, pawelo joins those who think Heliopolis is a great place for the capitol, as it will benefit from it's central position and favorable terrain.

More of (unwanted ;)) advice later on...

Superb turns Slobahotep, and this time the soldier gets the spoils. Rhiems is yours.

Very sound advice on National wonders. Will VoK or Paris produce Confucian missionaries for the whole of Eygpt?

Cabledawg, Buddhism would have left us vulnerable to being out voted by a block of the other civilisations.

At first I thought peace and reconstruction was in order, but more and more it looks like we should hit the Sumerians while we have a military advantage.

We will make no sudden decisions for a while.

Two votes to Kill the king (shift the capital) Pawelo and Cabldawg. One against , Sloberhotep.

I already gave my vote to kill the king , and hadn't changed my mind....

I agree fully... but we need more cats ( or a mass upgrade of our axes ). Remember that our beared friend has vultures....

That's what I get for advising the engineer to build the wonder

So be it, The death squad is on it's way to Thebes.

Metahu has be chosen by three BACKSTABBING governors to be the ruler of Eygpt.

Change of control of Eygpt orchestrated by Pawelo,Cabledawg and Wen Amon.

Metahu's vision of owning the capital was true after all.

MUhauHAuhaUAHuahUHAuaH!!!

My true Gods know all!!

< true evul story shall follow tomorrow - late now>

......

Serious though, what happens now? Build palace there but Mice continues as the boss? Np here!

^^Don't worry... Warlords Wen Amon and pawelo will march to Heliopolis sooner or later

Seriously, I think that mice has being doing a good job and I would not object that he remains in control of the game ( as Tiajy of a party-animal king? ). I would not object to any of the other players ( including Arlborn, of course ) to take over the came.

Hail the new king in his glorious capital.

Shall he reign wisely ( and think sometimes about those who have voted for the blood in Thebes  )

Thebes dynasty reigned wisely, but the capital of Egypt will better serve it settled in Heliopolis.

(Thanks rolo) Arlborn, are you up for it?

I have no objection to Metahu taking the reins.

I also have no problem with Paris and VoK supplying Egypt with as many Confucian missionaries as neccessary.

I suggest a move to Caste System.

Paris orders:

Spoiler :
Finish Great Library then build Confucian missionaries until all of Egypt has Confucianism. Grow city to happy cap and run as many scientists as possible.

VoK orders:

Spoiler :
Finish market and build Confucian missionaries until all of Egypt has Confucianism. Grow city to happy cap, plowing over cottages with farms as neccessary, running as many priests as possible. Build temples as necessary to allow more priests.

Rheims orders:

Spoiler :
Build obelisk, library, and temple, in that order to improve culture. Clear all jungle and farm/cottage the grassland to allow growth to happy cap, then run max merchant specialists. Build courthouse and marketplace to improve cash flow.

I guess I can do it until I am kicked!

But I can't post anything else for today. See you all tomorrow! Is it me up? So give me suggestions!

I suggest we build the Great Library in thebes if thats gonna be our Natl Epic city. It can finish it in 8 turns with some tile switching and taking the stone back from Memphis.

As much as i would like the heroic epic in 1 of my cities, I cant agree with Memphis. Memphis is more of a hybrid city. Paris has the production to be Heroic Epic city. By the way...theres a hill at Paris that needs mining.

Wen Amon being Wall Street is a no-brainer though.

As for the war with gilly, thats fine. I would keep or raze Nibru...depending on finances. Definately keep Lagash as that city will be a monster and raze nubian to take the culture pressure off Lagash, then get peace for techs.

In Memphis, build a monastary and temple next, then if military is needed...more military...if not a courthouse.

We get a prophet out of Orleans in 5 turns....are we gonna use him for the confused shrine?

In Bombay, there are 2 unhappy faces. Its building a temple now that can only be whipped for 1 pop. You could switch to a forge, whip that for 2 pop the next turn and finish the temple on the following turn. Im not the governor of Bombay, but its a suggestion.

I still suggest building a couple of galleys for Ghandi's last city...what could he really have over there anyway? It would also help the unhappiness issue in Bombay. Weve got enough spare War Chariots that wont be that great against the war with Gilly anyway..put 4 on a boat and attack Ghandi.

Good point. I had some "we want to join the motherland" events.

Dark days in the Kingdom of Egypt.

Advisors emerge from and return to the shadows in this throne room. What goes on in those shadows?

Sometimes I hear concubine giggling ,sometimes muttering, sometimes it seems like the sound of a dagger being unsheathed.

Badr al-Jamali came to the throne with murder .... and now Backstabbers !!!! No really, I'm stabbed in the back ! Call the physician

urgh .... urgh.... (stumble and fall) urghh ....( Badr al-Jamali dies)

The Palace is being built in Heliopolis. Metahu Ptah is the ruler of Eygpt. He will bestow a title on himself no doubt.

The last save was 1160...did you play just 1 turn?

Yes, to start the capital and build queue some of the orders.

I switched the temple in Bombay to a 2 pop whip.

I forgot to put galleys in Thebes. I think this is a good idea. And the chariots , (but not our medic 3) and maybe one axe to take out Gandhi island.

Cabledawg, what would yo do with the great people we are hoping to get?

The prophet for a shrine? the merchants? I agree we should be pushing specialists. We are in Representation.

The Nat wonders you said are good and I vote for those too. Except, why would Thebes be the Nat Epic city? It is food poor.

So for Metahu ;

Orders for Thebes

Spoiler :
build 2 galleys and then go back to catapults or trebs if we get eng.
