?

its k im pretty sure they spoke spanish in bavaria

Its a perfectly valid German sounding plural noun; as in, die Ultramontane being "the Ultramontanes." Pronounced OOL-tra-mon-tahn-eh.

Its probably based on somebody's name.

It uses the word in the German Wikipedia too, anyhow. I'm not an expert in 19th century Bavaria, oddly enough, though. Just an idea that Crezth/fc might like to consider.

The Business Plot
1. USA (long shot, I know)
2. Russia
3. Netherlands
4. Prussia
5. The UK

I don't seriously expect to get any of these except maybe the Netherlands but eh, may as well try.

Seeing as my best chance is probably the Netherlands, here we go.

My plan for the Netherlands:

First order of business is winning the war against Belgium, as the dirt rebels can't be allowed to win. I have a couple of plans for this, but those'll have to be kept private. Once I win the war, I need to focus both on developing the the colonies and expanding them (there is, iirc, unclaimed land in the Indies) while hopefully using the raw materials to aid industrialization at home.

On that note, the name of the game is industry. I'm planning to expand the already industrialized Netherlands' industry, making them as much of a powerhouse as I can manage with the limited resources at my disposal. Government sponsored factories and large subsidies for capitalists will be the main way to aid it, but as will making sure the always hungry factories have enough resources.

On the international front, befriending the UK is a main goal, as their power and influence can help extraordinarily in protecting the Dutch peoples, while truly vast colonial empire will help us never want for raw materials.

And finally, I have one final plan, but that's a work in progress and going to be kept under wraps for the moment.

This doesn't look ripped off of Victoria 2 at all. :p

1. Denmark
2. Sweden
3. Brazil
4. Netherlands
5. Bavaria

Maybe I should give some goals...

1. Denmark (build up economy and industry, attempt to keep Schleswig and Holstein in Denmark, perhaps to try unify Scandinavia)
2. Sweden (basically the same as Denmark except with the Schleswig-Holstein question, perhaps try to regain Finland if Russia collapses)
3. Brazil (become South American hegemon, pick provinces off Argentina, grow the economy with natural resources and industrialize)
4. Netherlands (expand colonial empire, try to regain Belgium, become a great power with Indonesian resources)
5. Bavaria (survive, play Prussia and Austria against each other for my own benefit, dominate southern Germany)

A few things: Is Holstein essentially a vassal of Denmark? Why isn't the Danish Gold Coast represented? Where's Mongolia on the map?

Holstein is basically a vassal. Vassal rules are still being cooked up.

The map is not final, as I've stated before. We're still working on the map that we'll use for this NES. That map is just a reference.

The full list of nations represented in this NES is in Post #2, with the exception of Moldavia which I haven't finished yet (and is unplayable).

Choices 1-3 are basically equal. Goals for all possible choices are in PM.

1. Peru
2. Paraguay
3. Argentina

4. Chile
5. Korea

Also, OTL Paraguay was basically run as a personal estate by the ruling family. While their population plummeted to the numbers you have now at around 1867 as a direct result of the Paraguayan War (or the War of the Triple Alliance), previously it was as high as 1,337,000, but probably around 500-600 thousand people. With the growth rate and starting population you have marked, I don't really think this is possible or reflected.

Cool, I'll double-check that. Thanks.

Is it intentional for the political support levels in Persia, Burma, Viet Nam, and Siam to add up to 110 as opposed to 100?

Oops. I'll fix it, thanks.

Can I join as Greece?

Please list the top 5 countries you'd like to play as so if I can't fit you into your first choice, I can try to find another country for you. :)

Also, considering the fact that the Rattanakosin Chakri Kings of Siam didn't call themselves 'Rama' until the sixth one, King Vajiravudh, Rama III would be incorrect, as it was given posthumously to Prince Thap. In propriety, his name would be King Borommarachathirat Ramathibodi (not Nangklao, as that was also posthumously provided, this name by his half-brother successor, Mongkut).

Note: More short-term goals than long-term. For long-term goals, see here.

France - Continue the drift towards weakness and collapse with poorly advised reconcilatory measures with the republicains, liberalizations which will alienate both the parti d'ordre and the legitimistes. Engage, against the advice of Talleyrand and Soult, in an unwise military intervention against the Carlist uprising in Spain, which will result in the mutiny of several military units, and culminate in the premature rise of Louis-Napoleon Bonaparte, who will send Louis-Philippe into exile after a triumphal march on Paris at the head of defecting National Guard units.

Louis will receive a significant amount of popular support due to a vaguely socialist manifesto and the promise of popular sovereignty on major state issues, and the historical nostalgia held in the countryside for Napoleon I's rule. Furthermore, the Bourbonists and the Legitimistes will be reconciled to his rule by Louis-Philippe's utter mismanagement and vacillation over the republican issue, (and general well-intentioned but milquetoast incompetence,) each clique seeking to use Napoleon to foil the plans of the other.

The title of First Consul will be revived and assigned (with popular approval) to Louis-Napoleon as the Second Consulate begins. (Soult and Maret will be the Second and Third Consuls, respectively.) A new constitution will emphasize popular sovereignty, no direct taxation, but retain a strong executive entitled to a ten year term. While the Chamber of Deputies will be re-established, it will effectively be neutered on most issues through a combination of manipulation and a constitution which effectively allows the Consulate to supercede the will of the Deputies if it is deemed (via referendum or vaguely worded other means) to be against the will of the people. Some superficial efforts of land redistribution and a declaration of an end to foreign wars (however cynically delivered) will ensure the maintenance of popular support for the time being.

The Khedivate of Egypt - Generally be awesome, crush the Ottoman Empire's bedraggled forces six ways to Sunday and negotiate with European powers more effectively than in OTL to prevent the disastrous interventions of the late 1830's.

The Qing Dynasty - Attempt to modernize the country, fail, and then collapse into violence and warlordism on an epic scale.

The Grand Duchy of Luxembourg - Write annoying stories about chateaux and marriage intrigue literally all day.

The Dragon Empire of Bhutan Austria - Enough said.
