Note PoM:
A problem with the installer when installing PIG on top of a Civ4 BTS Steam install.
The shortcut generated looks like this:
"C:\Games\Steam\steamapps\common\sid meier's civilization iv beyond the sword\Beyond the Sword\Civ4BeyondSword.exe" mod=\PIG Mod
This command line will produce the following error:
Mods\Pig Mod \ is an invalid mod directory, ignoring
If I just change the command line to:
"C:\Games\Steam\steamapps\common\sid meier's civilization iv beyond the sword\Beyond the Sword\Civ4BeyondSword.exe" mod="PIG Mod"
Then it works properly.
Bloodstone, do you have 7zip, by any chance? If so, you can just extract the files directly from the installer.
But as far as I can tell, no you don't need to worry about the problem you quoted. The worst that can happen is that it won't install at all. PIG does indeed include BUG (though it's not the latest version as of these days) but it includes it completely inside PIG's own folder. You don't need to uninstall BUG as PIG has nothing to do with that folder.
If BUG is installed to customassets and you've installed PIG and it's not working, it might be worth trying deleting your customassets folder (hence uninstalling BUG if it was in there).
Uninstall BUG before installing BlueMarble. In fact, uninstall BUG, delete your CustomAssets folder, and then install BlueMarble. Now when you run PIG it will use BlueMarble.
The reason for this is that BUG in the CA folder will interfere with PIG. You can normally fix this by telling PIG to ignore the CA folder, but that means it will ignore BlueMarble as well. This is just how Civ4 handles mods, and there's no magic fix for it.
I keep multiple CustomAssets folders in my BTS folder that I swap using Ruff_Hi's CustomAssets switcher application. All it does is rename the folders so you can do it manually if you like. This would allow you to keep BUG and BlueMarble both installed separately.
No attention given to my observation? :/
Spoiler :if I have 2 preceding techs [Theology, Civil Service] I should be able to research Paper. I'm not beelining if I have to research Theology.
Well it could happen if one was avoiding religious techs, but you're right that would only be some odd alternative play.
Still, is gameplay improved by forcibly slowing teching? Machinery sometimes feels like a beaker sink and nothing more. :/
That's not your fault though, I guess I would just say the tech tree itself is a bit wonky.
If it really is all about the GS bulb preferences, then maybe the bulb preferences should be changed instead of changing the tech prerequisites.
