Normally off, unless I'm playing as the Aztecs.

I like longer games. I prefer Marathon. Also, Raging Barbarians further helps slows the pace of games. Makes it harder to expand, and civs need to devote some early resources to military.

Also, makes things interesting since lots of civilian units get captured, which you can free. So this helps diplomatically - you can either free the civilians, or you can essentially "steal" workers without needing to declare war. Oh and barbarians help prevent pesky missionaries and prophets from converting your cities.

Barbarians helps you a lot in early game. For example, you can be ally of a CS because of a Barbarian Camp. Actually, that's the main reason that I never turn barbarians off.

I'd use them more often if only it didn't cripple the AI so much. :/

I've done it a few times before,mostly to try and justify using Honor Haven't really done it as of late though.

About 50 50. Barbarians aren't a problem with honor. As for no barbarians, you don't have to worry about plunders.
