RBW4 - It's a scary world out there

Personally I do not beleve varriant is posible on monarch dificulty in warlords.
May be on normal size map with standart amount of civs? Even then, whith out initial expance... And this time let research hanting first :)

HoF mod no problem.

HOF mod thing is fine with me, but what does it do? I looked at the link, and only saw a bunch of things that install disabled.

Check the link in my sig titled FAQ. On that page there will be an index of questions regarding the HOF. You'll see a section titled HOF Mod. There you can click on links that detail each mini-mod located within the main mod.

In summary, the HOF mod is a combination of many mods that we in the HOF feel do not take away from normal gameplay. These mods merely make MM'ing easier. The mod is also designed so that the HOF Staff are able to make sure HOF submissions are valid and follow the HOF rules.

The reason that all the mini-mods start off as disabled, is for ease of use for first time users. In game you can simply go to the Options screen and turn each mini-mod on if you wish to use it.

If you have any further questions, don't hesitate to ask either here or in the FAQ thread. Currently I'm still at work, but I'll do my best to answer them.

Well, thin i like about Hof mod is it's notifications.
On other side I hate exotic foreign adviser. It is misleading and spoilish.

I have no problem with hof mod, but switch of exotic adviser please. (it is off by default).

Sorry, I meant to restart this before leaving yesterday for (part of) the weekend. We got busy and I didn't have time. Looks like people wanted more discussion anyways.

I'm open to opinions to changing the difficulty. I would definitely change the map.

Does everyone wish to play this on Prince then? Also, by changing the map do you mean the map type, or just where our start location was?

I don't want to recreate this until you all have given your opinions. With any luck, we'll have this back up and running tonight.

Overall my preference is that we play Monarch/a map where we aren't on the edge. Now, I think Prince would be "better", but we all signed up to play on Monarch, and we haven't seen whether or not it is possible yet, given a decent start. On the other hand, if we decide we want to have a good shot at winning, Prince is 100% fine.

We know it can be done on Prince, we do want to a little "beyond" so Monarch is our challenge.

As for map: fewer nations would be nice, and a tropical climate just might give us a few more holes to fill. And definitely not on the edge of anything.

Sorry Bede, I forgot to switch it to Tropical. And considering how many times I had to regen the map to get an inland start, I really didn't want to change the settings.

Okay, here's the particulars, just in case:

The world is a scary place and safety only lies at home.

Civ4 Version: Warlords
Difficulty: Monarch
Victory Condition: Domination
Team Civ: Mao (China) [Expansive/Protective]
Game Speed: Normal
Map Size: Standard
Map Type: Pangaea
Variant Rules:
  • Can never declare war, therefore can never sign DP or PA.
  • Military units cannot leave our cultural borders. The only exception to this is when escorting a settler to its designated settle site.
  • We cannot attack across our borders. In other words, we cannot attack a city that is adjacent to our borders.
  • Must win through domination.

As you can probably guess, this game is going to be won through culture. Remember, due to the variant rules our starting warrior must return to the settler.

Roster:
  • Methos
  • Kodii
  • Bede
  • KMadCandy Official Lurker
  • 3Amoor - MIA
  • sunrise089
  • Mutineer

Our new starting position is:

In regards to the HOF mod: There's only a couple of you who's name I haven't seen cross my desk, so just in case there's some questions, here's a few notes.

To install the Warlords version of the HOF mod you can download it from this location. If you need help, here are the install instructions. Once you have installed the mod, instructions on loading can be found in the How to use? section. If you are curious on what all the HOF mod offers you can check the FAQ thread. You'll notice the bold heading titled "HOF Mod" with several anchored links below it. Other than the "Modified Domestic Advisor", all included mods will have a description of their use and how to enable them. Sorry, I just haven't gotten around to writing up something for the MDA. Please note, nearly all included mods default as "disabled". It's your choice on what you wish to enable and it doesn't matter if we all have separate enabled mods. The primary mod that is the most use to us is the Autologger. IMO it is excellent for SG play.

If anyone has any further questions, feel free to either ask here, or ask in the HOF Questions and Answers Thread thread.

Well, my advice is set research for hanting and start building worker. Interrapt worker to build scout in max shield configuration and then continue on worker.
After hanting we need to go to bronse working.
Finding and securing strategic resources are a priority in my book.
WE start with mining/agreeculture, so our woker can farm corn and mine hills.

Scout in a mean time can explore any posible settling location. We need to grab enogth l;andf with good city cites ASAP.

I would not bother about religions at all. In Pangea we will get some soon enogth and we allwasy can shot for some later one's.

yes but whenever i get a starting position like that, i never can find a good spot for my second and third city!

Maybe that's just in my games...

Edit: Also these types of starts give me health problems later on.(maybe that's me to. )

Maybe it is :)

Do we settle in place, or move 1N?
I would settle in place. There is probably another resource most likely to the south (or east), or maybe even a hidden metal on one of the hills. Perhaps move the warrior 1SE onto the plains hill to reveal our south and east. The hidden tiles to the north are just another floodplain and a grassland forest.

Yes but even if there is some kind of resource (likely to be a calender resource) or a metal resource, you probably would've expanded enough to get it anyway.
