RIGGED: Faction Brainstorming

Going to work on some unit ideas, looking at the list. Going to start with Kanto Empire since that seems like it will be the easiest one.

Settler (builds cities, starter): Just the normal settler. I doubt we need UU settlers.
Worker (terraforms, starter): Again, the normal worker is fine.
Defense (starter, defensive): HMG Encampent
Offense (starter, offensive): Banzai Infantry
Light Infantry (faster, cheaper, weaker): Type 025 "Pikachu"
Regular Infantry (all around): Type 038 "Sandpan"
Heavy Infantry (stronger, more expensive, slower): Type 068 "Kairiky"
Scout (exploration): Type 085 "Dodorio"
Striker (has bombard): Type 045 "Ruffresia"
Sniper (upgraded striker): Type 003 "Fushigibana"
Blitzer (has blitz): Type 123 "Sycther"*
Marine (amphibious): Type 009 "Kamex
Spy (invisible, can detect invisible): Type 132 "Metamon"
Stealth Attack (has stealth attack): Type 076 "Golonya"**
Assassin (invisible, hidden nationality, stealth attack, can detect invisible, expensive): Type 094 "Gangar"
Slaver (enslaves): Type 065 "Foodin"
Controller (has zone of control): Type 095 "Iwark"
Super Weapon (differs between civilizations, buildable during the end): Type 150 "Mewtwo"

*Scyther's Japanese name is literally "Strike". This would be one of the few times I would therefore advocate using the English name.
**There's really no stealthy Gen I Pokémon besides Gengar. I guess, lorewise, Golem does stealth attacks by pretending it is a giant boulder and ambushing soldiers when they get too close

Also, for the bombard/snipers, if it isn't obvious, I was intending on Venusaur/Vileplume to bombard with their poisonous gases. Would be much more effective against organic units than normal bombards, but useless against mechanical infantry and vehicles.

Sounds good, I just need to let you know, ruby_sauce made Pokemon Trainers for CivIII. He made Bulbasaur, Pikachu, and Gengar for their Pokemon. Is it okay, if I have this?

Also, I'd like to replace Mewtwo with a Missingno Bomb. It was Japan's response to the American's Atomic Bomb. It's more powerful, more deadly, and doesn't leave any radioactive residue.

Also, I made the Scout a Stereotypical Otaku. Don't know why, I just think the Pokemon should be used for attack purposes

One more thing, I already did some considerations for units for the GREYHOUND faction. I can post them here if you want me to.

  • Settler (builds cities, starter) - Operative
  • Worker (terraforms, starter) - Toad
  • Defense (starter, defensive) - Dry Bones
  • Offense (starter, offensive) - MKATCO hammer bros
  • Light Infantry (faster, cheaper, weaker) - Goombas
  • Regular Infantry (all around) - Koopas
  • Heavy Infantry (stronger, more expensive, slower) - MKATCO Fire bros
  • Scout (exploration) Wigglerpacabra
  • Striker (has bombard) Piranha Plant
  • Sniper (upgraded striker) - Grey Toad
  • Blitzer (has blitz) - MKATCO Boomerangers
  • Marine (amphibious) - World 5 MKATCO
  • Spy (invisible, can detect invisible) - Freeplumber
  • Stealth Attack (has stealth attack) - Sleeper Agent
  • Assassin (invisible, hidden nationality, stealth attack, can detect invisible, expensive) Illumanati Operative
  • Slaver (enslaves) Toad in Black
  • Controller (has zone of control) - Maj8 Operative
  • Super Weapon (differs between civilizations, buildable during the end) - Bowser-Aquinas

Looks nice, but I'm actually using the Engineer unit from EFZI as a worker. Why you may ask? Well, it looks a bit like Mario.

I actually saw them earlier today. They looked nice, but my main issue is that I think having ten year olds command these militarized monsters to be weird. It would be nice if you could use just the Pokémon itself and not use the trainers IMO. However, I don't really care either way.

Also, I'd like to replace Mewtwo with a Missingno Bomb. It was Japan's response to the American's Atomic Bomb. It's more powerful, more deadly, and doesn't leave any radioactive residue.

But but Mewtwo>Missingo :(

In all honesty, your mod, your choice. Still, I would much rather have Mewtwo as a hero unit than Missingno as a bomb.

Also, I made the Scout a Stereotypical Otaku. Don't know why, I just think the Pokemon should be used for attack purposes

Heh, this probably is a better choice. I think using Dodrio as a Scout was sort of a stretch.

One more thing, I already did some considerations for units for the GREYHOUND faction. I can post them here if you want me to.

Sure, I'd love to hear it. They were going to be my second faction I would do the units on, so I'd love to be able to see your ideas first.

Martin voiced approval but didn't stick mine in the OP; assuming it's still valid:

  • Settler (builds cities, starter) - Cargo Truck
  • Worker (terraforms, starter) - Construction Crew
  • Defense (starter, defensive) - Punk
  • Offense (starter, offensive) - Scrap Car
  • Light Infantry (faster, cheaper, weaker) - BMW
  • Regular Infantry (all around) - Ferrari
  • Heavy Infantry (stronger, more expensive, slower) - Grenadier
  • Scout (exploration) - Motorbike
  • Striker (has bombard) - PaK 38
  • Sniper (upgraded striker) - Tiger SPA
  • Blitzer (has blitz) - Armoured Car

  • Assassin (invisible, hidden nationality, stealth attack, can detect invisible, expensive) - Mercenary
  • Slaver (enslaves) - Leibstandarte
  • Controller (has zone of control) - MG42
Not sure what to use as a Superweapon; I'm thinking an uparmoured Panther for sheer firepower, V2 rocket for strategic bombardment, Mr. T for irony, or heck, Dolfy himself

How about I put this in the Civlopedia:

All Pokemon have to be at 30 years old. I mean, what else would we use, 10 year olds?

Or, I could have an Ender's Game thing going on.

But but Mewtwo>Missingo :(

Well, technically Missingno isn't even a Pokemon. I think I should use Mewtwo instead.

This is all I got so far:

Settler: Robo-Engie carrying a toolbox
Worker: Robo-Engie
Scout: Robo-Scout with a bat.
Light Infantry: Robo-Scout with a Scattergun
Regular Infantry: Robo-Soldier
Heavy Infantry: Robo-Heavy
Striker: Robo-Demoman
Sniper: Robo-Sniper
Blitzer: Robo-Pyro
Marine: Default Marine (it looks MGS-esque)
Spy: Black Cat (same reason as above)
Assassin: Robo-Spy
Super Weapon: Metal Gear Rex

I like your Ideas, but I'd like you to look up dwarf or dwarves in the Civ3 Graphics forum and see if there is anything you'd like me to use.

Mind if I use this guy for the SWART Team?

Martin voiced approval but didn't stick mine in the OP; assuming it's still valid:

Whoops! Forgot that. Would you mind making a backstory for me? You don't have to, I can do it myself.

Sounds good. Although, I'm going to replace the Construction Worker with NavyDawg's and I'm going to use Bond as a hitman. Also, I'll use Dolfy as the Super Weapon.

Or, I could have an Ender's Game thing going on.

Actually, that might be interesting. Let's go with that

Well, technically Missingno isn't even a Pokemon. I think I should use Mewtwo instead.

So we're in agreement.

As for Mewtwo as a unit, I would highly stress making Mewtwo a "hero" unit, in that you can only build him once. Even in the anime, which is becoming lenient in showing multiple members of a legendary species, have been adamant that there is just one Mewtwo. Would be nice flavor wise.

Settler: Robo-Engie carrying a toolbox
Worker: Robo-Engie
Scout: Robo-Scout with a bat.
Light Infantry: Robo-Scout with a Scattergun
Regular Infantry: Robo-Soldier
Heavy Infantry: Robo-Heavy
Striker: Robo-Demoman
Sniper: Robo-Sniper

Assassin: Robo-Spy
Super Weapon: Metal Gear Rex

For the most part, I like this. Just a few minor complaints.

Robo-Pyro is not really that fast nor much of a threat in MvM. At all. I assume Blitzer is supposed to be the "tank" unit in the faction, and therefore the best general late game unit. In that regards, Robo-Pyro should not have that function. I would make Robo Soldier the Blitzer, representing rocket jumping, and pyro the regular infantry. Would better represent how they actually work, since Pyro is only less to Scout in how much its used as cannon fodder.

I would switch the order of robo demoman and robo sniper. Robo Sniper is annoying; Robo Demoman is the most dangerous of the nine robots bar none.

Also, you seem to have left out the basic Offense/Defense units. I would make them humans since we seem to have a general lack of them in GREYHOUND. Make the defense some guardsman, and make the general offense a special operative.

Otherwise like it. I approve :D

Er muss sein Fegelein!

I agree, actually. Adolf would most likely be the leader of the faction anyways, and Fegelein is just as important to the Downfall parody universe as Hitler himself is. Plus Fegelein is more of a solider than Hitler would be.

Okay.

I'd have to make it a regular unit. It would be really hard to make it a hero unit in CivIII.

Robo-Pyro is not really that fast nor much of a threat in MvM. At all. I assume Blitzer is supposed to be the "tank" unit in the faction, and therefore the best general late game unit.

Actually, Blitz in CivIII means you can attack as many times as you can move.

In that regards, Robo-Pyro should not have that function. I would make Robo Soldier the Blitzer, representing rocket jumping, and pyro the regular infantry. Would better represent how they actually work, since Pyro is only less to Scout in how much its used as cannon fodder.

I only did that because Strikers can attack from 1 square away and Snipers can strike from 3 squares away. Demomen have very low range and Snipers can kill you from across the map, thus their positions.

Also, you seem to have left out the basic Offense/Defense units. I would make them humans since we seem to have a general lack of them in GREYHOUND. Make the defense some guardsman, and make the general offense a special operative.

Should I use US Infantry, African Infantry, or Asian Infantry for the Offense/Defense. I wouldn't know, I've never played MGS before.

I agree, actually. Adolf would most likely be the leader of the faction anyways, and Fegelein is just as important to the Downfall parody universe as Hitler himself is. Plus Fegelein is more of a solider than Hitler would be.

Well, I'm using Adolf so :nya:

Also, I'm about to send a PM to Vuldacon, Hikaro Takayama, and ruby_sauce. :please: Here's hoping they accept.

Would it be safe to say Strikers deal more damage than Snipers, in that regard? If so, I would switch the order of Vileplume and Venusaur in the Kanto list. Venusaur is far more powerful than Vileplume.

Should I use US Infantry, African Infantry, or Asian Infantry for the Offense/Defense. I wouldn't know, I've never played MGS before.

US/European would be the best. Strangely, the Genome soldiers (Which would serve the bulk of the human component of GREYHOUND), despite being American, use European weapons such as the FAMAS and M9. So European might actually be better than American if you want to simulate their equipment.

If only there was some sort of Pokemon entirely designed to shoot things out of its mouth... Yes, able to cause things to jet out at high speeds, sniping other Pokemon from the water.

No Strikers are not more powerful than Snipers.

Ok, thank you.

Why would you do something like that?

There is a dwarf city thing that might fit the Rouge Federation; design to look dwarfish but it also looks futuristic... of course since it is best on the Lord's Believers building. ;)

Will you need a list of city names? How many cities do you need for Civ3 city file list?

Some Tropico names could include the capitals from Alpha Centauri? Puerto Angélico from Tropico 4 might be a good isle... I mean city name.

Edit: I found a dwarf settler and a dwarf worker...

what about the one from the time travel mission in 3?

I... have not played Tropico 3. :(

But that might be good idea... to have the name of what ever city that be?

I still need to think of the capital; El Presidentium? UNDERNIT HQ? UNDERNIT Palace? El Presidente's Palace? The Presidential Hive? St Helena?

Fegelein.

T'was my reflex, problem is I don't have a unit for him. ;)

I'm going to replace the Construction Worker with NavyDawg's
Military worker, right? That was actually my first thought too.

MartinLuther said:

You've played EFZI2, yes? It's actually fairly simple, and I've done it in my own mods: You give the civ an unbuildable precursor unit at the start of the game, and you flag the hero as a 'king' unit. The king flag makes it unbuildable by default, but the precursor can still upgrade to it.

Backstory: Fast & Führerious

Waging an antic war against the Bolsheviks is pretty hard when nobody recognizes either of your parties as still existing. Having lost access to government resources, Dolfy and Co. turn to the modern criminal underground to continue the struggle. It's a few flights down from the Nürnberg rallies, but the black market gives them a truly international reach, while the lucrative, semi-legal business of exotic sports car street racing provides a steady stream of unscrupulous finding. Plus, consumerist postmodernism offers no shortage of skinhead punks and Fight Club disciples for cannon fod—er, volunteers to the cause.
