Welcome everyone to my next Role Play Challenge, The Next Generation where we play as a non-Civilization Leader under new rules. These games are meant to be fun and educational!

Here we have a new leader, well not a leader exactly, nor historical. In fact his major contribution to the world is less than 2 years (at least in my eyes it is), hell that's even shorter than the Messianic Obama and his almighty teleprompter. Just what is the world coming to (and don't be saying a Lady Gaga RPC!).

But Julian is an odd and rather controversal leader. Just what is his goals, what is his personality, what is his views of the world, and what everyone really wants to know, what about his reputation with the ladies? Is he a socialist, a libertarian, an anarchist, or secretly a capitalistic pig in disguise?

I am a simply Mad Scientist folks, I know none of these answers, nor can I even speculate. However, I know ONE thing at least about this man; HACKER! Yep, he is definitely one so we are going to play up the Espionage aspect of the game to the hilt!

So we have ONE rule in this RPC

1) The science slider is turned OFF at alphabet. The culture slider can only be used when happiness is an issue.

SO folks we shall see truely what type of man this WikiLeaks, or should I say WikiCivilization, dude is. A tyrant? A Humanitarian? A warrior? Zealot? All possibilities are open here, us Civfanatics will find out what he is made of!

Game settings

Emperor, Epic, standard Big/Small map.

If we end up isolated we restart the game, espionage is useless unless there is someone to spy upon.

We are playing unrestricted leaders and have chosen

Frederick of Summeria!

So our mysterious leader

And the start

We start with hunting, so food and happiness right away.

SO how does Julian proceed here folks???

Okay. Ground floor of this one. It's gonna own.

Diplomatic victory.

All secrets must be revealed, you must sell or gift every stolen techs to everyone else within 10 turns (so that his analysts can vet them).

Also, build great wall, keep out the CIA (they can't cross running water and can't hop over barriers).

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHA

I haven't shadowed an RPC in almost half a year or so. Time to change that...except I'll probably make videos of this rather than do a writeup :p.

Definitely settle in place.

Sumeria is perfectly set up for a chariot or vulture rush and subsequent recovery, assuming there are horses or copper nearby. AH> mining> BW, then Oracle techs - zigs practically beg you to take a shot at Oracle. If no horses or copper (vultures!) nearby, you may need just an ordinary rex to claim land. :( Take CoL if it looks like you have some good food cities for early caste with a PHI leader. If no copper or horses, take a shot at the GW to get the spy game going in earnest.

EDIT: Hunting first, obviously, w/squirrels and deer.

So glad you have turned from the dark side and returned to the light.

I thought we were the dark side ?

Anyway civ V GUI and cookie cutter-isms are too tedious for me :p. I'm still splitting time with other games but obviously active here again.

@Madscientist: Are you going to at least start off with the Internet at some point?

You know, considering what's going on with Assange in Sweden now, those bars behind him in his picture should be in front...

Initialising Program: Lurk.exe

Subscribing power: 100% loaded
Minimalistic posting: 100% loaded
My Account button: 100% loaded

Program loaded

Execute program?

YES NO

YES

Program running.

:D

To be fair you should spread all the technologies you gain via espionage to everyone else as well in the spirit of WikiLeaks.

Woohoo, Mad is back again. And even TMIT is shadowing. I like Fleme's suggestion. Will make it a lot harder. Now the real question is, do you have to beeline alphabet?

Settle in place is a no brainer if you ask me. Good food (tech fishing though) and plain river furs is definitely not a bad resource. So we have deer with 4F/2H, fur with 1F/2H/5C if I am not mistaken, 2H from the city and crabs. Enough suspicious tiles for a strategic resource so we are set if you ask me.

I would vote for the pyramids though after the great wall. With represantation you could still maintain a solid science/spy rate. Or is that not allowed?

Just what is the world coming to (and don't be saying a Lady Gaga RPC!).

Beyonce RPC as bootylicious Boudica?

I posted this in the other thread but I feel it needs another mention. Surely, a hacker like Julian MUST be compelled to build the internet. (Maybe you should allow yourself to self tech computers only post alpha).

Go worker first, don't build a workboat, it'll have too many LEAKS :lol::lol:

from my experience big and small switches basically very soon to pangea style maps... but will let me surprise...

what about GLH? with this script there should be some islands nearby

Move warrior NE, if there are no resources there, then SIP.

Settle in place. I'm pretty sure Plains Forest Deer starts at 2F2H, so that plus the 2H centre tile gets you to a blazing start.

Hope for stone. If it's there, try for GW, mids and GLH. If not, go for GW for the GS GPPs, and GLH for the Big and Small trade routes.

Some ideas/comments

1) I am planning NOT to keep a monopoly and trade the techs, but nothing for free. Is Julian giving the world his knowledge on hacking???

2) The internet is WAY too far down the pipe to worry about, especially since I need an AI to research computers which they do not prioitize.

Information... wants to be free. Who are you to fight against the natural order?

Of course not when I am controlling the flow of information!

As far as using scientists, I am unsure hence my leaving the game with few rules other than espionage.
