RR18 - Who needs wood anyway ?

Does that mean I'm on? I'm OK with waiting until Vranasm does his turns.

EDIT: Question: can we tech BW now? :p

Plan sounds good, I don't mind waiting.

Maybe we should build another worker to road/farm all tiles to prevent forest spreads?

roading cuts it only by 50%. I am not sure on the actual number of workers needed...I am sure we won't need the usual number of workers, but I think I mentioned there i will start the second one after the city grows to 4?

more then 2 I think won't be needed for a (long?) while.

Time to play the TS

I settle the spot
Spoiler :

I start with warrior to allow growth

We finish Archery
Spoiler :

masonry next....but 19 turns with no commerce seems a bit excesive
I decide to bank some gold

we are hopeless
Spoiler :

I finished the worker and start with roading the plains cows, warrior in capital next turn (or we can use the overflow into settler)

preliminary queued settler...

we have 54 gold banked enough for masonry on 100% slider...but not sure if we won't go writing instead, so better to stop

Writing doesn't sound bad, we need research from somewhere and we can't really cottage without BW...

You guys forgot the most important part! By having no Huts, and Events you are weakening the power of no BW!@

I guess so. Which one is the event that gives us 3 settlers and some workers in rapid succession? (We would really need it with no BW.) :D

i would prefer couple of those "burn forest" events ;-) and some quick pottery and writing over 3 settlers.
Yes, the cottage situation looks terrible :(

It's still your TS, Vran, isn't it?

OK, this is a got it.

A few questions before I make a plan:

ATM we have exactly one unforested cottageable spot. We could settle near the FPs (next to our spawn busting warrior, maybe 1NE). At least FPs don't get overgrown. So Pottery would be viable then. We will need some commerce after all even if we want to run specialists (we have no other choice on this map without BW).

Masonry is necessary to make a production site out of Edirne but before it expands it won't be able to use all its prod tiles anyway (later it can get another grass farm).
We could immediately tech Writing, cap can handle two scientists. Also: are we set on building the Mids?

well considering the stone and everything (we should have the master plan of brennus in mind all the time) I vote for going writing->masonry and build mids and "quick" library in capital

You digged yourself a research hole with Archery here, should have built great wall cos gspys are actually good with PHI ;)

yep I have to agree that the situation isn't good...at least we don't have BW which would make it worse with uncareful chops :)

just kidding.

I think going with writing now will help since capital could stagnate on library and employ scientists to limit even more production

what is worrying me more is that we seem to be in semiisolation.

Yep, I think Writing is the best we can have here (except for BW :p). Any other suggestions?

I'm in favor of writing as well. We need to get some commerce somewhere, and Libraries/specialists help with managing the population.

OK, then.

The plan:

Tech: Writing before Masonry

City builds:
Cap: finish warrior, then settler for 1NE of warrior to grab the FPs for later cottaging.
Edirne: finish warrior, build an archer for spawn busting. (Jeez, I was thinking warrior, then I realized we had Archery for some reason :) )

Worker actions:
Worker 1 roads up to Edirne then builds a mine there. Worker 2 finishes rice then mine. (Later they can road the way to the next city.)

Could you drop me from the roster? I'm not into BtS at the moment.
