SGOTM 15 - Maple Sporks

^ I think there was a pretty clear consensus about 1E of gold as 1N invalidates any possibilities for cow. Specifically, we'll get (eventually) a city 1NE of deer.

Plus...1N of gold isn't really a productive city until a border pop.

It also defeats the purpose of going AH first since we wouldn't be able to pasture immediately.

I'm not sold on BW immediately after AH. If we still want to Oracle something we need Masonry, the Wheel and PH. Not to mention the prereqs for whatever we decide to learn from the Oracle.

All this within the next 40-50 turns roughly. Just some food for thought.

I don't like BW nor Masonry as our next tech. Not going The Wheel immediately will lose us quite a lot of :commerce: from the trade routes.

I think that the Wheel should be next after AH. I agree we need to connect our cities for TR.

For what it's worth, I wasn't proposing Masonry first...I was only listing out the prereqs.

Wheel>Pottery>Masonry>PH would probably be my prefered tech path if we are going for Oracle. If we are running a cottage economy then getting those cottages up and running early will pay big dividends.

I guess after Norvin finishes his set we will need to have a discussion on what our long term tech path is going to be.

Let's wait whether we have horsies. If we don't, I'm not sure how long we can survive without copper! The Togu's have been Wheoohrn for a while, and will surely attack. Maybe we need to test how long it takes for them to attack us giving the power difference...

So in short, I'd like horse or copper for insurance

Also, I was looking at our southern/western coast and I don't see any way of fully protecting from barbs without 3 spawnbusters.

Golden Fleece should be covered once it pops its first borders.
Planting our warrior on the hill 1E of the sheep would cover us until then. And he would have enough notice to protect the city in an emergency.

I agree with both notions, the need for wheel pronto and the need to carefully think about the oracle. I don't discard slinging just MC.

We'll have to do some testing when Norvin finishes his set. :)

This is true...but we aren't guaranteed copper either. Although, it would be quite wicked (SGOTM 14 pun) of the mapmaker to deny us strategic resources.

Let's just pop horses and make this a moot point!

Look at us...posting like we are OSS!

the other team's will get nervous when they see this!

We just have to increae our post length a thousand fold to match Doomstriker from OSS

No problem re spamming post count.

We need to finish AH before debating next tech.

Yeup, if we have horses, I'd feel a lot safer, the Toku's are going to attack soon. Also, that mountainrange is looking more interesting every turn.

Don't panic! Worst case scenario (aka no horses or copper) we can beeline Archery.

Although from my personal experience...you are either Mali or screwed if you opt to selftech Archery :p

Btw. the AI is coded so that it will only attack if it has access to at least 2 offensive units (axes, spears, chariots, swords) so I think we should be pretty safe for a while. Has anyone revolted to Slavery yet? If so, that would indicate that the AI can see metal now...

Toku/Hammu are not WHEOOHRN just worst enemies.

That makes me feel a little better :D

Looking forward to the next few turns...

So do we have horse access?

As a horse might say . . . “Naaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay!”

Out west (warrior took down an injured wolf with no damage and then a lion – he should be healed now – there is a healthy bear to his west)

Spoiler :

In the east (a lion started poking around the warrior)

Spoiler :

From all the “forested” mountains it would seem that the map is really heavily edited.

You can tell we´re playing sgotm.

I´d lose a turn or so and move the settler through the mountains with warrior escort.

I´d also research BW next just to confirm we don´t have copper either.
