Here's my calculation:

Figure out how much you make an hour at work.
Multiply by the number of hours you have logged on Steam.
Add in the price of the game itself.

See if the Steam sale really makes that much difference in the grand scheme of things. Unless you're unemployed.

That really only makes sense if the value you draw from your entertainment is the same as what you draw from your work. I don't know about you, but I view my entertainment as the reward for doing work, and the more of it I can get for the same price, the more value the work itself has. So Steam sale = pay rise. Though a very tiny one.

Besides, I really don't want to think that I've spent over $70,000 on Civilization (not counting IV and earlier).
