The Confederate States of America - Life Without the Union

I'm playing the RFC that came with the game.

Nope, Maya doesnt exist in the 600 AD start. They are 2 or 3 indie cities. RFC indies have a similar color scheme to Byz from the unmodded game, and that was a particularly long shot, so it is understandable.

Subbed, subbed subbed!!!

Sorry, the holidays and school have gotten in the way. I can most likely update next weekend.

Sorry for the long wait... the holidays make school teachers crazy.

Prologue, Part 2: The Renaissance Era

As the English Kingdom formed into an utmost large and prominent European power, it had entered the Renaissance Era by 1300 AD, before any other European nation. The king at the time, King Linus the Pitiful, had almost lost all of the money in the kingdom from the expedition to the New World. Looking for answers to this near bankruptcy, Linus demands tribute from the Aztecs. This would barely keep the kingdom up for a ten years, let along five hundred, if they wanted the kingdom to live on for eternity. Linus had killed himself out of desperation. For Linus's youngest son, George, the answer was simple. Obtain Western Africa through the Malinese. If Mali was a tributary state, then the financial problems would be solved. The Mali were a rich, undeveloped, and uncoordinated nation, filled with barbarians and robbers, or, in George's eyes, the perfect vassal. However, there was one big obstacle in George's way: Frederick and Linus II. Frederick and Linus II were twins, older brothers of George, and both heirs to the throne of England. George had no choice but to exterminate his feuding elder brothers. George sent the Secretive Society of Spies and Assassins (S.S.S.A.) After Linus II. Why Linus II, and not Frederick? The answer came the next year, after the S.S.S.A. had killed Linus II, George revealed that Frederick had illegally traded with the Norse after the Pact of Free Harbors (which was signed by King Edward III after the Viking raids on England), which had said that 'none shall trade with the opposite' and 'Viking nor English shall interconnect. If is done so, by law and by welfare of kingdom, execution shall be ordered on either side'. Frederick had utterly broke the law, and was sent to be executed.

King George led a caravan from Tunis into the Sahara Desert, and into Malinese lands. The King of Mali, Adame, immediately said yes to the proposal that Mali would become England's vassal. The new 'Treaty of the Turning Sands' had stated that English Mali would have the freedom to expand, grow, develop, charge taxes, and research advanced knowledge. However, whenever he/she felt needed, the ruler of England would demand tribute, and the need would be immediately fulfilled. The Treaty of the Turning Sands also stated that trade would not be limited to within the kingdom, but would be international. This demolished most of the Pact of Free Harbors, which the English used to look at as the 'Book of Laws ' (before the Pact of Free Harbors was signed, the 'Book of Laws' was the 'Wessex Pact of Unification'). Many nations, such as the Norse and the French, took immediate action toward this new law, and started trading with the English.

Meanwhile, Bent's great grandson, half Aztec and half English, led his great grandfather's boat across the southern part of the New World. He reached Inca. Inca soon became another vassal. This once again added to the English kingdom, which was now more than a kingdom, it was an empire. Bent would continue his voyage around the world. Back in England, King George IV had had scientists research the movement of the stars. With this knowledge, another distant relative of Bent had built an ultimate ship called a galleon. This would lead to the 'Great Colonization Effort'. The first act of this effort consisted of settling Newfoundland, above newly-found French Nova Scotia (no modern historian can tell whether France or England settled America first).

(sorry, no picture)

Great update.

From the title of this thread, I originally thought it was going to take place using that mod which starts in the 1860s. (I forget the name; it did remind me a little bit of the Age of Imperialism mod to Civ III.) Anyway, this fellow teacher is really interested in seeing where you go with this!

Looks good :goodjob: Hurry up and get to the war of 1812 in which you should destroy Baltimore :mwaha:
