It is unknown why, out of all the peoples of the Old World, it was the Persian people that had decided to settle down into large cities. Although various tribes like the Vandals and Gauls had built settlements, none would exceed the size and splendor of Persepolis. The reasons for this is unknown, and anthropologists, historians, and geographers all have debated this mysterious phenomenon for centuries without a conclusion.

Regardless, it was around 4000 BCE that the Persians had settled down into their first great city, Persepolis:

However, Persepolis began to expand. Eventually, the city became very crowded. Although we do not have records from this time, archaeological records have discovered that the vast majority of Persepolis live in squalor and misery. Eventually, in 1960 BCE, the city of Basrah was built on the mouth of the Tigris and Euphrates rivers.

(Crap. I forgot to take a screenshot)

The city of Bombay, in the eastern land of India, was founded later on, in BCE.
