The Open All Policies Strategy

Well there are some nice openings, which are worth picking at some point if we have spare SP:
Tradicion, border growth helps. And playing without it could be frustrating.
Patronage + Consulates powerful combo, giving lots of tiny things which sums up.
Exploration - only if we are aiming for CV, since AI dont like it, and louvre always good.
Rationalism + secularism sick combo, whatever you gonna do it helps.

Im not sure about taking policies to build wonders for the sake of it, you postpone your important policies, and hammers could be used for infrastructure. Loosing more than gain.
I doubt picking honor, liberty, Piety is generaly good. Honor is bad in general. Just liberty opener is arrow in the knee. Piety... it sometimes could be useful if we have temple UB.

I'm pretty sure it's been mathematically proven that opening with tradition if trying to go for collective rule takes longer than going straight for it.

True but only by about 4 turns.

Not really a big deal considering you'll have better border expansion and it will accumulate you a lot more culture over the course of the game which will be a useful buffer against ideological pressure later in the game.
