Upgrading Units

Provided you have enough gold and the technology,

Is there a way to upgrade all of your units of one type in a single move?

press ctrl-g to select all units of the same type, then press on the upgrade icon.

all of them have to be in the same place (tile), i don't know if you could upgrade them if they were all over the map.

I was wondering if there was a command for all over the map too?

I think you hit the <alt> key while clicking upgrade on a single unit. It will upgrade as many units of that kind as you can afford (but seems to be kind of random if you only have enough to upgrade some of them).
