Vista 64 bit Problem

I keep getting this error when trying to install Civ 4.

I'm running this on a 64 bit Vista OS. I've updated every driver and easily meet the minimum requirements. Video card is a Nvidia 9800M GTS (Notebook). I tried running it with Windows XP compatibility mode on but absolutely nothing works. I've searched the forums for a similar error but I can't seem to find anything just like mine. Anyone have any idea what I can do to fix it? Let me know if you need any other info.

is this the cd/dvd version of the game or a digital one?

Cd. I tried downloading and installing the demo thinking there might be a problem there but it does the same thing.

this error code seems to say that it can either not find or not access some file(s). Try copying the complete disc to your harddrive and run the install from there...

Yes, I have been running it as administator too. I even went into the .exe and messed with the compatibility to make it as compatitible as possible (Ran in XP SP 2, Disabled settings, etc)

Hmmm this might help...I was scouring google for my exact error message and came across a civfanatics thread of a guy who looks to of had a very similar error message.

You suggested doing something to the registry. Problem for me is they were uninstalling the game...I'm just trying to get the damned thing to install so that registry doesn't even exist. So I donno if that info helps narrow the problem down or not.

Found a guy here with the exact same problem on a different game running the same card. I bet he bought the new Gateway PX-7811 at Best Buy like me. Maybe it's just a bug in my notebook.

no, it doesn't even show up on the event viewer...
