What television shows are you watching?

Archer season 1 was gold, it's been in a moderately steep decline since then. It happens with almost all shows, it's successful and the capitalists need to m i i i i i i i i i i i i i lk it, so they stretch the premise too far and it totally crashes and burns.

There are exceptions every now and then, of course. But a lot of shows that I really like, I only like them so much because they got cancelled before they could get sort of....thin, like butter scraped over too much bread.

As we all know, communists don't like good things and don't want more of it.

It's more like, you have more creative freedom when the studio executives aren't halfway up your anus because they need to maximize shareholder value

Everything after they went into outer space has been meh
You didn't like "Archer:Vice"? Cocaine Pam? Lerlene Cheryl? The Smokey and the Bandit episode??

I will admit that season 6 and the Figgis Agency season were not as good as the Vice season, but the Figgis Agency season was still pretty good.

EDIT: However... I didn't even realize that there was a season 8 and 9  well... I guess that settles what I'm going to be doing for the next 5 hours :ack:

I liked those specific things but overall the jokes weren't funny anymore.

Edit: Apparently the series only has a single writer - Adam Reed, the creator.

So apparently NETFLIX does not have Archer anymore , and never carried any seasons after 7... that's why I hadn't realized that there were two more seasons. AMAZON wants me to pay... PAY I tells ya!... to stream season 8... Pfft! As if!

I'll think about it:mischief:

I try to remember that when a show I really like only has a couple seasons (happens often)... At first I'm all like "WTF?! Why does this always happen?? Why do the NETFLIX Gods hate me?!?:aargh:

Then I remember that if they had continued the show... it might have ruined it.

Firefly is a perfect example... damn that was a good show.

It's probably on hulu. I think that netflix had rights to fx and amc shows before a certain period, and then hulu snatched up the recent stuff. It's why walking dead is on netflix but fear the walking dead is on hulu. It's super lame. I still have cable though so I usually watch on demand and stay current but I haven't watched the latest archer so I might be missing out. Not sure.

You guys are right that season 1 archer was definitely the best, but I wouldn't say the new ones are crap. They're still good. Not like family guy or all the spinoffs that literally put me to sleep, while family guy's first couple seasons were gold.

My stupid effing phone is parental locked on the apple account cus it's a company phone so it's restricted to tv 14 and pg 13. Utterly ridiculous. Well netflix and some other apps have independent account settings but for some stupid reason hbo and fx apps go by the apple account so I can't watch archer during lunch breaks anymore.

Should I bother with starting season 2, then? I only have 4 episodes left in season 1.
I've enjoyed season 2, and an unresolved cliffhanger wouldn't spoil it for me. I'd still recommend those other shows. ymmv, of course.

I guess, by definition, a show's final season is often its worst, leaving us thinking that they should've quit while they were ahead. *cough*Fringe*cough* Very few shows are allowed to sag or jump the shark and then recover. I thought E.R. revived itself, for instance. I do think Firefly would have continued to be great if it had continued.

The city & the city is decent, imo. Far better than the other recent tv series out of Britain, another of which has the same protagonist as this one ^_^ (a cool actor, btw).
Hm. I really enjoy a lot of British shows. I don't know if that means I'll love this one or that you and I are on completely different wavelengths.

Speaking of British shows, I see that Humans is getting a 3rd season.

The city & the city has quite good cinematography, and decent actors. Storyline is ok - up to now; though i am not sure where it is going, and i do fear the worst let-down ^_^

Most british tv series suffer from british provincialism syndrome. This one also has some of it, but it does show that it is based on a book, cause it has a plot, instead of being soap-operatic.

I watched the new Netflix stand-up special from Ali Wong. The first half was funny but the second half was pretty bad.

I think you'll have to explain yourself, Kyriakos.

Well OK, if you're fine with someone not understanding you, that's on you.

I may end up checking out season 2 of 13 Reasons Why. But that's the kind of show that really can't be any good past season 1. Considering the lead is dead and all. Oh sorry, spoiler alert. hehe. She was actually a pretty good actress. Pretty bad how Aussies can portray better Americans than Americans can. Between them and the British they are stealing American jobs. :) Bad enough we have a Brit portraying an American slave in 12 years a slave.

And why is Netflix' top recommendation for me 40 year old Virgin. Is Netflix trying to tell me something?

More specifically, then, what is "British provincialism syndrome" and how is it different to any other country's domestic TV?
