when to attack your first AI ?

I am playing vanilla, King level.
I try to get a domination victory. I wonder if it's more worthy to attack a first AI capital as your third city or to develop my empire first and wait for middleage to start the domination phase.
Any advice on this ? What's your experience of it?

Yes, you should take the first capital you see in vanilla, as long as it won't make your happiness go -10 or more. 4-6 archers and a warrior or horse should be fine that early in the game. You can puppet it and still have no problem going for that early national college.
