Phhht. That's Magna Mundi. Pretty sure the Statutes of Limitations run a lot shorter in the official version :p

Meh, I think there is a sort of statute of limitations on this, and this would not go back that far. Plus, Wikipedia says it identifies with France, so it must be right.

:)

I´not taking this too seriously anyway. I just wanted to point out that although there was no single German nation state (even better: there were HUNDREDS of Germanies :mischief:), there was a distinct German indentity. And it´s a slippery slope to discuss these matters from today´s viewpoint anyway because our current identity derived from the modern understanding of citizenship and a relatively homogenous national culture did generally not exist in that form anyway.

Jura is definitely not Alsace. Even the Germans did not want it.
hey, watch it :trouble:

;)

for your sake I'm going to assume that you meant just the french department, not the Jura region as a whole :p

Hm... now that I think of it... why not create a new international order? Every time there is a disputed territory, we give it to the Swiss.
And in no time, we would have a global Swiss empire. That would be much more interesting than all those current "get back our former glory" - movements. We did not have a hegemonic Switzerland yet.
And we have not been occupied by the Swiss yet (although you have stolen your land from us, so technically we are ;)), so that would be something new as well.

hush now, you're not supposed to tell that :nono:

pah :p

well, if I'm to believe certain Blick-headlines, we're more occupied by germans than the other way around ;)

hehe watch out, I´m considering moving there as well this year ;). My minions have already prepared my arrival.

Interesting newspaper, btw. Seems like Bild in a way :D.

:run: too bad you're not Romanian/Bulgarian or I could vote no to the extension of the bilateral treaties this weekend :ack:

Hordes of immigrants are gonna descend upon us, I tell you :ack:

it's exactly like Bild, except that it's swiss :ack:

Phew, I´m spared. Says nothing about "Nordzuwanderung".
Geez, those anti-immigration posters that are circulating in Switzerland recently are really a bit irritating, aren´t they?
Btw, you certainly remember the poster with the black and white sheep? Did you know that the NPD used it in one of their campaigns in Eastern Germany (or was it in Hesse, I can´t remember)? You could sue them :) !

well it's already too late for that, those anti-swiss lefties (;) ) already pushed thourgh free access to switzerland for the original EU members... :)

understatement of the year :ack:

yeah, I heard about that :ack: IIRC, the SVP themselves ran into trouble because they apparently took the sheep from the artist without his consent :ack:
of course, at the moment it's not sheep anymore, it's ravens picking at Switzerland

Heh... I just noticed that the "Schäfchenplakat" has been used in Spain and Italy as well - those foreigners are in your base and stealing your stuff... so the SVP is right in a way .

Do you happen to have a link to the poster with the ravens?

I knew it, already it's starting...the EU is undermining Switzerland :run: Blocher was right all along

Do you happen to have a link to the poster with the ravens?

Spoiler poster in german :

Spoiler or in french :

there ya go :ack: unbelievably silly :shake:

Oh, that´s quite a harsh poster, isn´t it?
Indeed, IIRC the Romanian ambassador has already filed a complaint about it..but it's the SVP, so populistic crap like this is to be expected :(

But thanks :). That one is perfect for a little dose of photoshop to change the text ;).
you're not the first with that idea...I've seen a poster of it where there were names of several higher bank managers attached to those ravens

Perhaps a state for Scientologists would be a good idea to have there?

The statute of limitations in Europa Universalis 3: Magni Mundi is 200 years, so Germany still has a core on it. :smug:

200 years would only give it to Germany through conquest, therefore giving morally to France. France gained it in the 17th century (more than 200 years ago), and had it until it was annexed by Germany as a result of the Franco-Prussian War. Therefore, going on 200 years as a statute of limitations on claiming land, Germany has absolutely no right to it.

:)

Fair enough. Is this what the German word 'zeitgeist' refers to?

Every post-HRE state that was not Austria had all cores to the German Empire. :smug:

I guess you could say so, yes.
( not really sure because I don´t know what you English-speaking folks connotate with it, I´ve heard it has a slightly different meaning there :) )

I mean as a word to describe the feeling of belonging to the German culture, or to a Germanic culture, especially pertaining to the nationalist movement in Germany in the 19th century. I think the context I heard it in was, "The Germanic people came together because of their 'zeitgeist'."
