People have uploaded custom maps before. So yes, it is possible.
You may find this guide useful. Note that you have to build the project to generate the .modinfo file. That step can get you if you forget.
I'm not a map guy, though, so I'm not super familiar with maps specifically (although someday I will make Polder Paradise and play it in SP!)
