Played through Writing. Brief Overview
I didn't use the whip well as evidenced by my 2nd worker being so late despite the build bonus. I may go back and play through this again.
Expansion Ideas
I didn't get the chance to play last night. I'll probably play up through Pottery tonight. After reading a few different things, I'm leaning heavily towards getting to alphabet and trading for IW
I keep wanting to head to pink, but I will take the advice being given and share wheat with the capital. I guess that makes me less reliant on a border pop, which makes me less reliant on detouring to mysticism. And now that I'm thinking about it, settling on the red spot would also move AH up...
Really short session. I'm a bit lost right now. The lack of food on this map is really throwing me for a loop.

Thoughts
I've got a settler coming and no idea where to put my 2nd city. Here's my ideas:
Good to know. I was thinking I couldn't farm it without fresh water.
My warrior is head West next so we will see about coastline food, but using the wheat instead of cows seems like good advice. Do you think this should be my next city?
My next session will probably take me through...
I agree with everything you've said, but especially this. I tend to go work backwards from ideal.
My one question is about sharing wheat with the capital. Will I be as to farm it pre-CS?
@ lymond.
Be careful on what you assume! Improving corn is the right
Move. I should have said I will mine pigs then move toward forests by way of the corn.
Pop 3 feels like a long time to wait for a settler. Honestly, with this much chopping potential my instinct is to go...
Posted this in OP. decided to post I here as well.
Initial Thoughts:
For simplicity, I'm going to SIP. Feel free to argue the merits of other options ( I find this helpful).
Tech: Get to BW ASAP. This seems fairly obvious with +:) from CHA and its synergy with Dat Whip
Build Order: Worker...
I'm always amazed at the responsiveness of this community.
@lymond yes, I wanted a fairly "normalized" early and mid game. I don't want to learn the ins and outs of a Keshik rush, I want some analysis on a general start I can apply to other games. Once I get that foundation, the specialized...
Hello!
I'm AdmiralQ. I started playing Civ II in 1999. I had no idea what I was doing and didn't get better in Civ III...but I had fun.
In 2010 I started digging into these forums (silently) and really started to see improvement. I had a 60ish % win rate on standard size maps and below on...
I'm just getting back into Civ after a long hiatus. I used to follow this series but my schedule never allowed me to play along with everybody. I'm looking to improve and am open to critique. A few things I'm trying to improve on in this game:
-Diplomacy...
I've been away from the game for over a year. I'm trying to (re)improve my game. I will appreciate any help I can get. Per the initial posts suggestion, I will try to be as detailed as possible.
This game is Noble/Epic
Initial Thoughts.

Looking forward to following this thread. I was playing at Monarch about a year and a half ago and just picked the game back up. Civ IV is NOT like riding a bike and I'm having trouble making the jump from Noble to Prince this time around (Yuck)...
