Do you think we'll get expansions for Beyond Earth?

I have no idea what they intend for Civ;BE, at this point. It is in the sort of spot Civ 4 Col was, as many have said, yet it probably has been more profitable since Civ 5 was so good that many more people got interested in Civ. Which means that maybe there will be an expansion. On the other...

    Firaxis announces "Sid Meier's Starships"

My first thought on this is: Didn't the Sims have some cross-connection at one point with the 2nd-to-most-recent SimCity (not the terrible 'online-only' one, but the one before)? The connectivity there was marginal, so I'm not hoping much for this instance of cross-connection. Also: deeply...

    Is energy worthless in BE?

While I disagree that energy is worthless, I think there is indeed an issue, here: In Civ V, it took me a good long while to get gpt up to a point where I could rush-buy a unit or two every 5-10 turns. But in Civ:BE so far, if I play my cards right, I can be rush-buying a lot more than that by...

    Really Needs More Sponsors/Seeding Options

I went back and played Civ V a little, and I realized why Civ V was fun even during the sort of bland vanilla period: You had so many uniques to try out. Which is where Civ:BE stumbles most for me. I could wrap my head around the sort of lackluster affinities and what not if we had maybe...

Has the game improved much since launch?

Civ:BE is now perfectly stable for me... I no longer crash every 150 turns or so. Plus, trade-routes seem to work almost as intended, now. But we direly need more sponsors and seeding options. After the cornucopia of uniques that Civ V presented to us, it's just startling that this launched...

What I wanted in BE and didn't get

The affinities are certainly my biggest disappointment as well. Affinities are like an extension of the technologies: you reach new levels of affinity to unlock buildings and units... just like researching technologies. It helps to keep the tech web interesting, but that's it: affinity choice...

    Is energy worthless in BE?

To me, the energy issue is: In Civ V, you either had trade routes, or river/coast energy yield, but not both. By the time BNW came about, gold yield was gone from rivers and coasts. In Civ:BE, you can get energy from rivers/coasts immediately and then get trade-routes up for even more.

    Xenodrome is OP

Only wonders I almost ever build are the food/growth wonders. In Civ:BE, the wonders that increase food and growth are actually pretty potent... one is something like +1 food per farm! That's a ton of extra food in itself, assuming you have terrain to build farms on. Other wonders? Pfff...

    Late-starting AI bonuses - flawed

For one, I've already disabled the late-arrival stuff a few times and found the game not exceedingly different... I mean, because of taking damage from miasma and aliens, I've found that I probably don't get all that many ruins anyways, and finishing an expedition is laborious enough that I get...

    Trading favors

A favor is around 1-5 energy per turn, depending on how the particular AI you have favors with feels about you. So, the question you posed is not an easy one because favors themselves don't have a constant value, but are themselves affected (value-wise) by your standing with the target AI. That...

How long does it take to win a game?

Long Domination games are actually pretty dull. As a good number of players probably go, I play only single-player, and even on harder difficulties it becomes a matter of 'Whack-a-Mole' with knocking down the gates/mindflowers and sniping capitals. In multiplayer, though, I'd assume a long...

    Civ:BE Expansion Situation

It was sort of both, though, in a sense. In one sense, it re-used a lot of assets from Civ 4 just as Civ:BE re-used assets from Civ 5. In that regard, it could be argued to some extent that it was a spin-off of Civ 4 despite also being a remake. In another sense, though, both Civ4:Col...

    Civ:BE Expansion Situation

Note that in the original post, I did say that my suggestion for an expansion was contingent on the bug-fixes continuing for the base game. In other words, as a few have said, the game still needs some bug fixes (though personally I haven't had a crash... or stupid monitor limitation... since...

    Main Page

I've been on this site for a few years, and it's one of my regular non-work-related sites to be on, on-line. I get a lot out of it, and it's well-maintained. All that said: Could a change to the main-page be made? Right now, it sort of is a hodge-podge news-feed of things that are rather...

    Civilization V Funny screenshots

Great Wall one is common... a OCC set-up that finishes the Wall before any settling of other cities can create some underwhelming visuals for the Wall. The other one, though, is still funny to this day: CSes are weird in that you don't always meet them when it seems painfully obvious that you...
