War Chariot if I'm playing multiplayer matches, otherwise the Landsknecht.
The Dog Soldiers are great too, and the classic Conquistador and Impi are still high on the list.

I'm loving the Mayans so far; great starting techs to either hit BW or a religion tech, Pacal's expansive combined with the ball court's two additional happiness has nice synergy, Pacal is Financial which helps every route to victory you choose, and I love the updated graphics for the aboriginal...
I've been avoiding reading this thread, being part Polish and part German (the bulk of my ancestry traced back a few hundred years in Silesia, and thus I'm covered either way), but I just wanted to jump in quickly and say one thing.
There was a period of time where the civ I decided to play was...
I agree ... I blame the province of Ontario 100% for our lack of Civ4:BTS. I hate when the province steps in and holds up shipping of video games. Maybe you can submit a letter to the other 7 major nations that make up the G8 and explain how this xpac not hitting shelves on time (in most...
I'm in Etobicoke ... went to EB in Cloverdale, Sherway and across from Sherway, as well as Zellers, BestBuy, Future Shop and Wal-Mart and haven't found a copy anywhere in my neck of the woods.
If anyone in 'Sauga finds a copy let me know!
Anyone in the area want to chat about Civ4 and w/e...
Well just for the heck of it, I went to a few EB games, BestBuy and Future Shop locations (West-end of Toronto here for anyone else nearby who reads) and none of them had the game arrive today, but all said they will be getting it by noon tomorrow - Tuesday the 24th.
If anyone in my area...
25 year-old grad student ... Astronomy Physics, working on Intermediate Polar Binary Systems which is way more interesting than it sounds, trust me.
I started playing CivI on a school computer back in grade 7 (or 6 or 8, I don't remember for sure) but started playing seriously when...
Inca and Aztec as a civilization feel ... though this will be overtaken by the Maya soon.
Mostly because I had a 4-year minor in the history of pre-Columbian mesoamerican civilizations, and I like to imagine them in different climes and more technologically 'advanced.' Which is the #1 reason I...
I tried playing snaky continents a few times, and have never been impressed. The maps look interesting and all, but I've run in to odd civ groupings per land mass (major islands with a single civ, and smaller thin ones with multiples on them).
I recently started playing Fractal maps and I...
I'm not really sure why Isabella appears on this list so often. At higher difficulties, I've found the ability to tweak my civics often a great asset, and the extra health from expansive is not just a small boost but a major increase to the starting health of a city. If I were a warmonger...
I have a simple strategy that I've used since my first days with the civ franchise.
ALWAYS
- Pick a civ I like (historically) regardless of its traits and number crunching
NEVER
- Regenerate Map
