    i hate AI settlers

It's just silly to claim the AI gets free settlers. Of course it doesn't. The rapid AI expansion is a good thing, it makes for a challenging game. Stop whining!

    Deity too hard after 1.21

Deity too hard; that's probably the most unjustified complaint I've ever seen on this forum....

    Better combat

Are you sure about this? Movement is already considerably slower in the terrains you mention; I don't quite see the reason to increase this difference. Otherwise, I agree with your points. Stack combat would give us both more realism and more elegant gameplay. One problem is whether and...

    Doughnut maps

But then, you couldn't use squares any more, because a sphere can't be made out of squares. The 3D map isn't really a good thought for a game like Civ.

    Doughnut maps

Making the map in the game really round would be next to impossible. Consider a flat world map; it's got a very strange shape, and still it's never really correct all over. It could be done, though, if the game used a 3d map shaped like... well, like the earth. I suppose that's a pretty big...

    Suggestion: Transporting food

This works just fine in Master of Orion 2; you buy freighters who transport food around with no more micromanagement than checking you have enough freighters and enough total food production.

    Cheats Are Stupid

I agree, thinking about normal game play. On the other hand, cheats may be nice for those who want to find out about game mechanics to test their tactics, and so on. That doesn't interest me that much, so I don't really miss cheats at all. Never used them in Civ 2.

    What is "Cheating"??

Zachriel: I think Cracker meant that was a task the AI could be expected to do quite well, as opposed to a human who wouldn't bother for the reason you just stated. So I think you're in agreeement :)

    Game engines. Civ3 vs Chess

I know that's your opinion; you've stated it 932 times already...

    Game engines. Civ3 vs Chess

Well.... knowing the Persians' style (for example) doesn't always make it possible for me to beat them, but I see your meaning. I can always count on the Persians not to get in the way of my cultural victory, and that makes it a little easier for me.

AI unit cheat on Deity - Proof!

.... but forgive me for being agitated... I know this is just a matter of opinion. I think too many people here present their opinions as if they were universal truths, and I don't want to be seen as doing that myself :)

AI unit cheat on Deity - Proof!

 I couldn't disagree more! The combat percentages was IMO the worst aspect of Civ2; it made me play on Prince most of the time. I hated the thought of uneven combat. The way the difficulty levels are implemented in Civ3 makes me want to play the higher levels. I mean, the AI gets...

    I Hate this GD Game!

It's very easy to make the eadjustments you want in the editor. How many other games will give you as much freedom to adjust the rules as the Civ games do? You say you want a balanced combat system. I want the same, and for that exact reason I've made hardly any adjustments to the unit combat...

    Game engines. Civ3 vs Chess

:) That's a great idea! I guess the AI strategies are not as diverse now as your suggestion would demand, but in some ways, I think it looks like a few of the civs are aiming for different victory conditions. Take the persians; in my games they always have large armies and often get...

    Settlers

Hi, I'm not sure if this is exactly to the point, but an early problem in the game was the AI building cities close to other civs' lands, that were doomed to culture flip. In the first patch this was changed, and I for one have noticed that this now happens less often. It may be because...
