I usually play an achipelago (sp?) map. I guess I did have good areas, that's why my population was growing well and I was successful. I had an entire island to myself, and it was large one at that, but it was void of any significant resources.
Ah! That makes sense. Thanks. It did appear that countries which I got along with good gave me a lot more money for the tech than the ones who were annoyed with me.
I find that in games, civilizations are willing to give up more for certain technology. For example, in a game I was playing I offered Theory of Gravity (of course in this scenario I am technologically advanced) to other civilizations making my usual cash rounds. I asked the Germans if he wanted...
If I was a relatively larger than the other civilization of the game I sign MPP with only one of the closest civs. I get in good with the person by giving them money, tech, etc. I make sure they get powerful as well. Its like its us against the world. I don't like the cascading violence though...
Its funny. Its as if we take a "don't do anything to anyone else that you wouldn't want done to yourself" position to things. When I think about it, I don't want another civilization to be able to disrupt my civ so severely that I could be entirely crippled. In CivCTP there were a whole range of...
I wish I could do that. Especially in a game where you are lacking uranium to start the space project. Other countries begin building it and your only other option is to start a war to ensure your victory.
What do you do when you have the majority of the land area in your game yet lack the necessary resources. In a past game I had been waiting for years for the "We have discovered" to pop up. I had no oil, coal, iron, uranium throughout the end of the game. Other countries had but it appeared they...
I don't think city size is an important factor in building your palace or f-palace. You can place them anywhere. Where you build your palaces affects all the surrounding cities. Am I understanding you correctly?
You could also (assuming you discovered the appropriate tech) build the SAM battery which would provide a bit for air defense (if enemy is not using stealth). Jet Fighters stationed in Aircraft Carriers and set to air superiority will destroy any enemy aircraft in its range. If you had two...
One reason why I switch my palace position is to curb corruption within my empire. I often find that if I centralize my capital my income usually gets raised by a few numbers (better than nothing). Also, that dirty corruption often slows down your production CONSIDERABLY. This game focuses a bit...
That's how it is. They should make the aerial view of the city much more fancy, with more buildings and housing and stuff. Usually cities can't go past 12 unless you have built the hospital. If it is not this then I don't know what's wrong.
How can you possibly keep up with all the tips? Anyway, I have not read all the tips (and don't intend to do so). I think you should sell your Wall once you pass population size 7. Afterall, it is completely useless by then and when you arial view your city that broken down wall looks very ugly.
According to the Civilization 3: Instruction Manual you're supposed to be able to Plant Disease. I have not seen this yet in the game. Did they leave this out on purpose or simply forgot? What happened? I'm not a sicko but I looked forward to this.
I do not know if this is mentioned or not (honestly, I didn't read everything in this thread) but there should be, just like in Alpha Centauri, the ability for one civilization to ask another civilization to stop fighting another one.
The only civilizations that I prefer to use are the Industrialistic societies. Workers complete irrigation and mining projects quicker. Support for more military units is a given with Industrial civs. Like they say, more is better.
