Gameplay: Air combat is incorrectly implemented

Well, it's not just that. I'm not just talking about the issue that a propeller plane is shooting down a jet - it's rather the odds of who is shooting down whom.

Gameplay: Air combat is incorrectly implemented

I have an issue concerning gameplay: In Civ4 it's impossible to gain air superiority over enemy terrain regardless of how many aircraft one has: The reason for that is, in over 90% of occuring interceptions (a fighter on intercept mission encounters another fighter that is attacking a...

    air intercepters question

You are right with the special mission "Shoot down all enemy fighters". In real life, no interceptors would circle over friendly territory without any threat. They would rather be sent up when an attack is underway. Thus, we don't need a new mission for shooting down enemy fighters. What we...

    Civ3 style artillery - possible?

That's right - but not the point. The problem isn't that too few interceptions happen, but what happens to the participating planes: In about 95% of cases the attacking (jet-)fighter is damaged, and just in very few cases the defender is hit. I think that's not very realistic if both units are...

    combat intercepting fighters?

That's right - and I'm discussing along. However, the problem is: Nobody has the slightest idea what to do about it... That's why I'm posting in a couple of threads: I hope one time there will be some modding pro that knows what to do about it.

    Civ3 style artillery - possible?

As the "Arty in Civ3-Style" - problem seems to be solved, here's another one: Is there a possibility to mod Civ4 in a way to increase the chance of a successful interception of a defending fighter plane? My experience is, that in 95% of cases my fighter is damaged, whereas only in 5% my fighter...

    combat intercepting fighters?

Yes, yes and yes! Sea and air superiority in Civ4 has a far too small impact on a war, this way the most effective thing you can do is put everything you have in producing land units. And what leaves that left of strategical / tactical finesse? Not much, I think. :(

Civ4 Realism Mod (Extended Gameplay and tweaks)

I have a suggestion, you could also call it a "cry for help": It annoys me like hell that it's not possible in Civilization 4 to gain air superiority: When I send jet fighters against a city defended by other fighters, it gets damaged or shot down in about 95% of all cases - there is just a...

    air intercepters question

Now we got to the point of the problem. Well, if it's neither possible to alter the combat advantage for the defending fighter nor the chance to shoot down a 100% Bomber, the only possibility for me would be to add a special unit for my civ that is somehow modded in a way, that it has a better...

    combat intercepting fighters?

Finally. I found a thread that deals with the problem I see. I started a war against an equally armed Civ, thus it is jet fighter vs. jet fighter. I see in 95% of cases that my fighter is damaged and the enemy returns undamaged to base - thus being able to intercept the next turn. This way...

    air intercepters question

Thanks for the warm welcome :) Well, OK. Let's say the defender has the advantage of a ground based radar (and perhaps better morale because he is defending his home). But still, if I attack 20 times with my fighters, 19 times mine is damaged and only in 1 case the enemy is hit, that's a rate...

    air intercepters question

Hi, I'm new in this forum and a litte bit concerned that I'm too late in this thread, as the last post is over a week old already. I read almost all of the posts in this thread, more and more amazed that nobody complains about the issue I want to address: Why isn't it possible in Civ 4 to...
