I myself go even further and remove this completely by editing the files. We already have the distance from capital modifier to make colonies more costly, and I personally have no interest in releasing my dear cities to an AI.

Thank you so much! Thats much better. Just curious since you also seem to have thought about the late game civics, what is your opinion on a fix for welfare state? It just tanks my economy whenever i feel like trying it.

Hi! I'm really disliking how mandatory Labour Union feels. Currently, I am attempting to make use of the forced labour civic instead, and currently, with only four civs using LU, it's a difference of -10 happiness, which feels crippling to play without. Any chance the effect on other civs might...

As someone with thousands of hours in RI, I completely agree with you - the industrial era is WAY too long. I think in general a shorter time to complete the game is not a bad idea, but if Walter wants to keep it equally long I would add some more ancient/classical techs to extend that era -...

Does anyone know of any way to remove the extra upkeep for "colonial expenses"? It seems very inconsequent with what is considered another continent, and faraway expansion is punishing enough even without this extra cost. Releasing all my gains to an AI that won't help me much is not a good...

BTS - with mod Realism:Invictus ver. 3.5 Screenshots from my game

Love your posts, wish you had shown some more screenshots from the early game!

Hello! I encounter a C++ runtime error when launching my attached file (1364KB size, large map, renaissance, 11 civs remaining). On MoDDB getting Visual C++ (VisualStudio?) is mentioned, which I have downloaded, but what exactly am I to do with it? Starting other games works fine, and earlier...

I meant that when i hit medieval, the techs are +100% more expensive due to being ahead of time. I am basically never above 50% research in my games, usually from 10-30 :)

Just to compare I tried a game at the realistic speed setting - still the same thing (immortal difficulty now, and without a great start/early conquest). I do see what you mean with making research less crucial, but in my view its too drastic as it is - where I would have to go out of my way to...

This was not the case - and I even checked the DynamicCityNaming - he has a city he founds called Dortmund

To me, it strongly devalues science and commerce overall, since hitting the research malus is inefficient. I just felt like it slowed the game down too much for my taste, and left me with too little to do each round, and made differences in research too small. I usually play on either x1,5 or...

I thank you for your belief in my abilities! However, I currently play on Monarch and anything above that turns into too much of a slog. Besides, nowadays I mostly play games where I control all the civs myself, anyway. I just played through a game where I was involved in a lot of early wars...

I've recently returned version 3.57 after a few months' absence. I love almost everything new, but the era tech penalty if you're too far ahead of the game era needs to be toggleable, imo. In the games ive played ive always reached the classical era with 50% penalty, and the medieval era with...

No, if there is a way to tell your current war exhaustion without being at war.
