    I want to learn

Hey guys! Sorry for being silent for so long. I just managed my first King victory this afternoon. I actually abandoned the game this thread is about because I ran into a lot of unhappiness problems. Before that, I managed to conquer Pacal and Morroco's capital but then came the happiness...

Did not know about that. I guess it's something I'll avoid from now on. Thanks. Yeah, it was what I did with Washington. My troops are coming back from the war on America they'll be there in a few turns. But yeah, Pacal needs to go!

    I want to learn

Hey guys! Sorry I took so long to reply, I was away for the weekend and didn't have a chance to play/reply. I see. In my case, Shangai might be the better option, since it can build a Garden. Basically, specialist buildings (more to the point, Guilds) should be built in a city with high...

That makes sense. Especially considering that you planned on getting the settlers out that early! One more point I need to improve is choosing techs based on my early game plan and resources available! I didn't know about scientists and specialists not counting as "city workers"! About guilds...

Yeah, I thought I had the right idea :) I guess you'll just get enough happiness from other sources to offset the penalties from local unhappiness. That's good to know (about the SPs). Hopefully I wont get discouraged and I'll be able to see this map till the end (win or lose) and check...

Wouldn't the overlap between Beijing and Shangai be a bit too much if we settled there? Unless I'm misunderstanding the tile you mean. As for grabbing the salt you mean the desert hill below Mombasa? I'd say the biggest problem I have in my usual BOs is the first worker, I tend to get it later...

    I want to learn

Ok, I got it now! (I think) Each city contributes 3 + each citizen to global unhappiness. To counteract local unhappiness you need to build +:c5happy: buildings in the city in question; Those same buildings wont add to global happiness because the amount of local happiness does not exceed the...

    I want to learn

So, local unhappiness has no effect on the empire happiness? But does affect a city production rate? Chance of revolts?

    I want to learn

Yeah, I'm not really getting the local unhappiness concept :blush: Does every population of a city counts as 1 unhappiness? (Considering no sources of happiness whatsoever) Does local unhappiness get detailed in the city screen or the happiness count? (top bar) Global happiness...

    I want to learn

Never thought about the number of cities related to the amount of luxuries in the vicinity, that's a really good point. I'll keep that in mind! So, a city with 4 Population will have 7 unhappiness? I'll read the guide. Thanks! I still have the save and have attached it to the post...

    I want to learn

I've seen that timing is one of my issues. It seems I need to start thinking a couple steps ahead instead of just thinking about the most immediate future. Yeah, unhappiness really drags you down. Only the first copy of a luxury adds happiness right? How much happiness does each unique luxury...

Like I suspected, I should've taken Monarchy instead of Landed Elite, I would be ok right now I think. But, in the future I'll have what you said in mind Nonevah. Thanks guys!

    I want to learn

Hello again! Sorry for the delay, it was getting late last night and I had to go to bed. I did not know about that. Thanks! I also considered the hill, but wanted the extra production from a mine, but the defence and initial extra production is probably better. Yeah, i'll explore that...

    I want to learn

Hello! So I've always liked Civ, and I've been playing for some time now, but I still suck at the game. I believe my biggest problem is coming up with a plan, but I'd argue that would come with more experience and knowledge about the game, the tech tree, social policies, etc. My settling...
