    New Game- random leader:Roosevelt

The thing to do is not to worry about it. It's expected to some degree, and you'll start out-teching them as soon as your newly captured cities come online and start to contribute to your now larger empire. The only thing to keep in mind in the early game is that you need to be able to reach key...

    New Game- random leader:Roosevelt

Something isn't quite right, uMgungundlovu should have had its border pop by now (happened in 1760BC when I replayed from your BC2440 save and I'm not sure I paid enough attention for that to be optimal). You could have a gold mine completed in 1640BC. As has been said before, this kind of delay...

    New Game- random leader:Roosevelt

Joe, if you're confused about all the conflicting viewpoints here, I'll also recommend you stick to lymond's advice for now (and maybe replay the game later following suggestions from MarigoldRan and others). What lymond is trying to teach you are very basic fundamentals that will be valuable in...

    New Game- random leader:Roosevelt

You didn't follow the advice you were given. Ulundi has five improved tiles, and is working three of them, letting two go to waste. uMgungundlovu could share two of them (pigs & copper), but is working three unimproved tiles instead. These things matter, and they are holding you back. If you...

It's no use -epic fail II - this time, it's really bad.

So I've played this for a bit; probably for longer than I should have but the Quick speed caught me out, also in terms of tech pace. How does the save below compare against your games? It's 650AD and I've expanded relatively slowly (as it turns out - it felt normal since I usually play at slower...

It's no use- I can't do it. Epic failure at CivIV

Well, as I said, I thought your game was in an unloseable position. So it's not quite as gloomy as you think. One of the difficulties I have (at every new difficulty level) is to avoid thinking that things are going badly, when the situation is actually OK. It looks like you're suffering from...

It's no use- I can't do it. Epic failure at CivIV

As an experiment, look at your 16xxAD save and examine how much research and production your capital produces with science at 100%. Then switch to Bureaucracy, wait for a turn to let the anarchy wear off, then examine the capital again. That will show you how much you lose by running Vassalage...

It's no use- I can't do it. Epic failure at CivIV

Looks like an unloseable position. Set your research to 100% and you'll find you are at the top spot in GNP, production, crop yield, soldiers and population. The stack that shows when you open the save file is a little too wimpy to attack Japan judging by what's in Yokohama, but goodness me do...

    How to Tech Faster?

I think there's a random element involved so that there's a chance every turn for them to forget the previous begging request, and in practice it works out to something like the 25 turns that were recommended. Also, how much you can ask for depends on how far into the game you are - start off...
