I miss the Monarch Student series

My guess is finals/final stretch to finals that is keeping people inactive. Someone could run a diversion game while we wait for the other series to update.

When Should You get Your First Worker?

4 warriors seems extreme. I like to keep it simple, so I go worker if it seems I can make use of it all the time, warrior otherwise, workboat on water starts.

Question about bottled in starts on high difficulty

Very nice strategy. I've never done pillage economy or baiting, though that seems like a very good plan so as to utilize the speed of the impis.

Question about bottled in starts on high difficulty

Another problem is the quirky mountain range. I am not sure if the AI tries to avoid settling in sites near the jungle early on but one of my worries even on Prince was that he would settle near the mountain range and negate my trade route with the copper city. I don't know if you can predict...

    Suggestions for noble game

Right *Like camh said, really food poor, probably the biggest problem right there. Biology is an excellent tech and is very good to beeline if you have food problems. You can also spread irrigation with civil service, which makes farms spread irrigation so you can string farms...

    Slavery: overrated?

I'd say it's been proven that slavery is one of the best techs in its civics bracket. However, I'd say it is even better than the numbers show. In most of my games, slavery is the difference between settling a good city or not. A whip's value is not only 30P - you can't really quantify the...

Question about bottled in starts on high difficulty

Recently while playing an offline game I encountered this start. (Ulundi has two fishfood down there by the way) Now, I was playing on Prince and this start wasn't particularly bad (I've seen way worse on this forum) but as I am trying to move up the difficulties it got me thinking - what...

Whats the trick to winning against the AI.

Ye this pretty much. Don't overthink it, go for a cookie cutter strategy. Just keep expanding and building workers. If you run out of land prepare for war with catapults + strongest non catapult unit. In every city get granary, monument as said. Other good buildings are library, barracks...

    Dog Soldier, seriously?

I'd say the real litmus test for UU isn't comparing them to the original unit. To really see how lame these units are you have to compare to other UUs of the same unit. How often would want a dog soldier instead of a vulture, which is a non-iron ghetto swordsman that probably gets similar...

    Help with odd start

I'd say it's good to have a habit to settle aggressively towards the AI and take it out before 1000AD. The way it will work is that you will gain a hammer advantage by settling the cities and take out the creative leader before she can really culture push you. There's not much the AI can do...

    Market & Grocer

I'd say markets and groceries are not in the same league as granaries, there's just cities which will never really benefit from either. I'd go so far as to call them supplementary - I'd say you should never prioritize them over flat growth, granaries (or usually libraries as well I assume)...
