    Civ 2 Fantastic World Scenarios

YES!!! It's a silly thing, I don't even much play Civ 2 anymore and I know these scenarios weren't even the best... but for 15+ years now I've had this niggling desire to try out those scenarios for myself in the backburner, and now here it is :p Thanks so much!

    Civ 2 Fantastic World Scenarios

Does anybody have the scenarios from the original release of Fantastic Worlds? The scenarios posted above seem to be from the Civ Chronicles version of the game, which is missing three scenarios (Master of Magic, Master of Orion, and X-COM). The only version I've been able to find of the...

    3000 Parallel Universes, listed

So I've recently finished making a list of 3000 parallel universe, many of which deal with alternate histories, societies, arts, biology, that kind of stuff. I think it's funny, and I liked them as I was making them up, but after doing this for a month I can't even tell anymore...

Is the civ series too eurocentric?

More or less... I should probably start playing them. Though I've never been a big fan; too much action going on in the menus instead of the playing field.

Is the civ series too eurocentric?

I'ms sorry if it's bad to bring up again a month-dead thread (haven't been on civfanatics for a while), but after reading this thread I can't help but put in my two cents. The main issue with the civs of Civ is that "civilization" is a very simplistic concept. This was compelled by the...

    Civ 4 and tablets

I doubt that it's possible. At best you'd probably just use the touchscreen to move around the cursor, which is rather pointless.

How were home PCs used in 1996?

Let's say its 1996, you're 40 years old and have 3 kids. You just bought a state of the art windows 95 machine which doesn't have internet access. The kids use it to play game and write school papers. But how do you use it? (let's assume your job doesn't require you to work at home). I'm...

    Civ 4 and tablets

Civ works very well on a touchscreen, though the iPad version is really only about as complex as Civ2. I'd look out for improvements however - in theory I'd say games like civ work better with a touch input than with a mouse and keyboard.

    Most characteristic roman metropolitan building?

Personally I think ghe most characteristic building of any society is usually going to be the most banal, so in the Roman context that would be either a tenement or a villa.

How do you think the world would have evolved if there had not been the World Wars?

In the narrative of the 20th Century both of the World Wars are treated as galvanizing events that shifted modern societies. Because of WWI, the story goes, there was a radical change in art and belief in the West, and because of WWII, technology and social advancement took a massive leap. And...

Screaming Children Will NOT Be Tolerated!: Age discrimination?

A problem that doesn't seem to havw been adressed so far is the nature of screaming children. Its not always some lasting incident, a lot of times when kids scream its just a few small bursts which the parents manage to shush quickly. How is the restaurant staff supposed to react to small...

What defines tolerance: thoughts or actions?

I do not like tolerance at all and do not consider myself to be a tolerant person. While tolerance is better than bigotry, sure, its not enough. Take the common attitude towards homosexuality and other queer groups. When the people say, ”I think its wrong, but who am I to judge?", I just...

Can the individual make a difference?

I think this is much too simplistic a question. Things just happen, you know, and I don't think any of us could really know exactly how that works. Who's to say, for example, what kind of world we would live in if neither Steve Jobs or Bill Gates had gotten into computers, or hadn't lived at...

What do you think about the Chinese civilization?

It seems really 'Classical', if that makes any sense. It's basic culture and heritage seems fully equivalent to Western culture and Heritage, and I feel ignorant for not knowing more about it. There are dozens or hundreds of Iliads and Lacoons and Pietas and Pantheons and Sistine Chapels and War...
