There're also City State missions for you to build a road to them.

They do consider your total strength in quantitive numbers before they declare war on you. However, they can not take advantage of troop formation and the geography. WTB AI mod.

1. Take Writting to open up Great Library; 2. Research Bronze Working before GL finishes; 3. Pick Iron Working as the free tech; 4. Upgrade 4-6 of your Warriors to Swordmen; 5. ??? 6. Profit.

There's a point in mid-late game where having colosseums + whatever other happy face building + every single lux resource just can not keep your empire happy. Every happy face counts I guess.

I like how people from 2K hardly post here anymore after game release day..... Game is in better shape than Civ3/4 when they first came out, but yeah... lots work need to be done.

The only thing that's hard about Civ5 is how to keep your empire expanding and happy at the same time. AI are pretty ******ed right now.

I connect my cities mostly for the happiness bonus under Liberty. I think Commerce also decrease road upkeep.

LOL.... Uh... you're pretty much screwed. The AI knows your military strength by default. They WILL declare war on you if you dont keep up with them. I'd say give up the city to the north and try to hold on to your remaining 3. Try to make peace with some of the AI, mass some bowman.

It happens quite alot when there're lux / strat resources on those tiles. Either tell the AI not to settle near you or muster up 3 Archers and take the city. That usually set the AI back alot progression wise.

Oh, and dont forget to use Focus on Production when you really want something built.
