I do not share the optimism of some of you display, but I'm not dismissing it either. Maybe you're right and I'm too negative. All the work done in the last 3 months has resulted in a minor boost in reviews (good news) and short lived small boosts in player count when a new patch/content was...

I admit it and I'm very happy it's getting better. I'm buying Surviving Mars Relaunched Ultimate Edition today which will keep me busy for a while. If Civ7 fixes its horrendous urban sprawl and comes up with an actual classic mode w/o abrupt age transitions and civ-swapping, I'll buy it even if...

Take Two just announced they're delaying GTA6 to November 2026. Stock tanking 10% after hours. Q2 FY26 conference call starting in 8 minutes. Seems they learned the lesson from Civ7 and they're not releasing a half-backed dud to upset the fanbase.

Same. The clutter and map unreadability are awful. Zoom in and the game looks gorgeous. Zoom out to the level required to play the game and readability is terrible. This is why in my opinion the game is unstreamable.

I reserve judgement until I see how keeping your civ is implemented. I hope it's not merely cosmetic. And they still have to fix the mid and late game city sprawl. Map readability remains unacceptable to me.

If you put proper error bars you'll notice no trend. The number of daily reviews is far too low for the graph to mean anything. Remember that if you see 25 reviews in a day, the associated standard deviation is sqrt(25)=5, or ±20%.

Anyone is free to look at the overall picture through rosy glasses or otherwise. To me, things that aren't guesstimates like concurrent player numbers and live Twitch numbers tell a sufficiently terrible story for Civ7. Civ7 can't fake fan engagement on Twitch. This much is undisputable.

We do have sales estimates. The difference between Civ6 and Civ7 is so stark, these estimates are good enough to get a pretty good idea. Per Gamalytic (hard-ish numbers, presumably), Civ6 vs Civ7 shown below. The big issue for me is Civ7's very low "Copies sold in the last 7 days" which...

I think there's another explanation at play here. A lot of current devs are young and thus are not part of the generation that created the franchise. Nonetheless, willing or not, they will imprint their cultural and societal views on new releases. So you get games that to us older folks...

Anything that could help will be welcome. Maybe a district view toggle on/off button? It's not like you need to see your districts/buildings all the time.

I'm not surprised streamers are ditching Civ7. Every time I tried one of Ursa Ryan's Civ7 streams, I gave up once city sprawl takes over. If you zoom in, the game does looks gorgeous. But zoom out to cover a few large cities - the normal in-game view - and it's just unintelligible. This is...

This is true, but I do not see Civ7's release anywhere near Civ6's. Eight months post Civ6's release (May 2017 data): Civ5: ~35k concurrent average players Civ6: ~22k.concurrent average players Eight months post Civ7's release (September 2025 data): Civ6: 30.2k concurrent average players...

Unfortunately it is. These are the ownership estimates, averaged over the 3 tracking services, average review scores, average concurrent Steam players over 30 days, and Twitch viewers as of Sunday, September 28, 2:20PM UTC: Civ5: 14M owners; 94.4% positive; 13,117 avg. concurrent players, 95...

    First Look: Lakshmibai

It's telling what? That I have a different opinion about how to market the game? That I think brand recognition works in selling entertainment products? That famous actors/actresses are paid more because they sell movies better? I certainly do. Mentioning Ecaterina Teodoroiu was not a *gotcha*...
