I have the old CIV 4 BTS, not steam. And I already shut down all the Windows Defender and stuff.

So i recently got a used lenovo with windows 8.1 I can install and play civ just fine, but I am unable to "see" other players in LAN mode even though my computer recognizes and connects to theirs. Anyone know what's up with this?
