    Yes, I tried this -- it didn't work for me. DXUninstall doesn't really "uninstall" it, just rolls it back to the version on your original XP cd, which for me was 8.1. After rebooting and trying to install DirectX from the Civ cd, it made NO CHANGES. dxdiag still reported 8.1. Even the directx...

    This sounded like a good idea, so I gave it a shot. The above script rolls DirectX back to the version on your winxp cd. So after this, dxdiag reports that I'm on 8.1. However, the stupid DXSetup.exe on the Civ cd does not recognize that it needs to upgrade and leaves all the (now old) files in...
