    making the game faster

TMIT also posted many Civ4 videos back in the day (close to a decade ago) and a couple of "Automaton" games where you had to 100% automate your workers 100% of the time.

Nobles' Club 239: Montezuma of the Aztecs

Courthouses are one of the few buildings you need pretty much everywhere, so any UB that improves on them is automatically good gravy, I reckon.

Relearning my Civ ABCs (getting back to Monarch)

I put the Alex game on hold at 1919AD after a huge world war broke out; I could probably win the war eventually but I didn't have the energy to face it, right then, and it would probably give the one uninvolved Civ a big lead in winning the game in any case. So instead I fired up Asoka and got...

Relearning my Civ ABCs (getting back to Monarch)

Ended up playing to turn 125. I have the most cities in the world (9), and have been building enough phalanxes to stay in touch on power. Just agreed to declare on SB for Shaka (at least partly because SB sniped a barb city from me), and have adopted Suleiman's religion since we have a long...

Relearning my Civ ABCs (getting back to Monarch)

I will probably play to turn 100 in about 12 hours, so any comments before then would be appreciated. Right now my plan is to try to win GLH and to spam coastal cities if I do. If I don't, things may get a lot more Axe-y. I'm also playing the latest Nobles' Club (Darius I) on Monarch, using...

Relearning my Civ ABCs (getting back to Monarch)

In other news, I did just pick up a 1963 Space Race win on Monarch with NC 224 Zara Yaquob. Seemed a pretty forgiving map overall, really, though.

Relearning my Civ ABCs (getting back to Monarch)

My exploring work boat found an encouraging amount of land for me to grab: That red northern resource is Stalin. Sitting Bull also turned up. Suleiman is the Ottoman leader, btw. I'm not yet sure if that strip of land from the fish to the gold is an island or a peninsula - will send my WB...

Relearning my Civ ABCs (getting back to Monarch)

I have played the next 25 turns (26 actually, as I accidentally hit end turn). Will post later when I have a bit more time, so you can tell me all the things I did wrong. They are probably numerous, but that's the point of asking!

    Nobles' Club Bullpen: Fourth Cycle

I assumed "fifth" was a typo and this was the plan to close out the 4th cycle. Darius next should be fun.

Fixed this (but have not played any further turns).

Relearning my Civ ABCs (getting back to Monarch)

It would be dumb to ask for advice and not take it, so 1E of elephants it is. Here's turn 50: I believe it is Mehmed leading the Ottomans. I am Alex. I just got WB out to explore W and see what land I can find there. Will slap a road to Sparta in ASAP so I can make it a strongpoint. At...

Relearning my Civ ABCs (getting back to Monarch)

1E gains +1H in the city square and an extra forest forest chop but has more coast, more overlap with the capital, and loses riverside grass and two mine-able plains hills ... it does get a desert hill but that's in the second ring and they're pretty bad. That was my thinking, anyway.

Relearning my Civ ABCs (getting back to Monarch)

Thanks for the comments. I went work boat first, then worker, and played to . Techs: AH, Mining, working on BH - 7 turns to go, which will likely still mean 2-3 turns where the worker is idle, so definitely WB was right call. Turns out there is a land bridge to the east and I am just on a...

Bribing AI to DoW another AI - is it really worth it?

I'd say it is situational. It can definitely be useful for instance if you want to attack Civ A and are worried that they might bribe Civ B into the war against you. Bribe Cive B to attack Civ C beforehand and they will WHEOOHRN Civ A when you come after them. (now if only I didn't forget...
