Simply want to play extended/longer eras online, possible?

I've tried 4 long era (long science) mods now and attempted to make them work online with no success. Is it even possible, if so, what mods work for you? Thanks! PS - I'm familiar with this method of enabling multiplaye rmods...https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=233428613
