I've finally gotten around to trying CivOne and I'm so impressed with how far you have gotten. There have been so many attempts at Civ clones over the years and most of them don't get off the ground so forgive my skepticism when I thought yours would be the same. I'm glad I was wrong!
I...
I've a democracy in which the government has collapsed as a city was in civil disorder for a couple of turns. Which now means half of my civ is in disorder. I might be getting confused with a different version of Civ, but I thought that you were able to form a new government after a few turns...
It's time I gave Civ 3 some loving again, Civ 1 has had plenty from me lately! I installed Civ 3 Complete from Steam and it says 1.22 in the corner of the main menu - is this the latest version? I see talk of later version numbers but I think they are for PTW?
A little confusing, appreciate...
Has anyone actually completed a multiplayer on iOS Civ Rev yet? I have started several but everyone seems to quit out after a turn or two. I'm guessing these are kids just trying the game out, with no idea how long a full game would take.
I'm normally a Civ 1 player but I'm trying to give Civ...
Very nice! I haven't tried it yet - it surely doesn't mean that the map wraps at the top and bottom edges now, right? (I mean, you can't go off the bottom and appear at the top, I assume!)
Just out of interest, I started a new game of Civ... and then did absolutely nothing except hit the Return key over and over again. It wasn't until 380 AD that I met someone (barbarians) at which point they walked right into my undefended city.
Interestingly, after 1 AD, I started to get...
When I get Railroads, my initial goal with them is to link up all my cities for defence (as I like to have a small but advanced military). In this particular game, it was a struggle to even get that done :)
Those units stunted Rome's growth as soon as I found it. I wasn't quite ready to attack them so that was to prevent them taking up anymore of "my" continent - it stopped Rome growing and it stopped them heading east.
I knew at that point that I probably couldn't win and I wasn't sure whether...
We were still a Despotism at this point. I sometimes skip Monarchy and hang on for Republic.
I forget now but I remember them landing strong attacking units on a mountain right beside one of the cities that were captured - I wasted the only few units I had in the area, trying to destroy...
It's incredibly nerdy to type up a game summary but then, in gaming terms, we're probably eccentric nerds to be still playing such an old game anyway.
I play a very expansionist game - I love sending Settlers out into the world and growing my network of cities. Unless another Civ is in close...
So, after my last post I took a break - when I started again, I almost immediately ran into serious trouble. If I sounded confident previously, that's because I was - America was number 1 in population and I was sure we were also number 1 in knowledge. But, as I said, my cities were prone to...
Inspired by Jarvisc's recent thread, I thought I'd give you a little waffle about my current game, for anyone who likes reading such stuff. When I play Civ, I play in a style that is most fun to me - there are certainly ways to play "better" but I like the way I play - just a little disclaimer...
I found some of your strategies interesting - I'd never thought of bribing a barbarian sail before but I will be watching out for the opportunity now! When you talked about manipulating the shield box, what did you mean? If you meant that you picked a unit or building to produce, with the intent...
