I really like SmartMap (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=154989) but I can't seem to generate working maps for multiplayer no matter which settings I choose. The problem I am going to describe also happens with many other custom Map Scripts but not all.
Versions of the game with...
If I understand it properly you run the game with administrator privileges change the settings, then run the game as normal user change the settings as well, the run the game again and you don't see the changes made by the normal user.
Well that's no bug. The settings files have been created...
Well as can be seen on the attached picture the minimap doesn't look right. Any way this can be avoided? It's a clean install of BtS. The map size is 320x140 (custom smartmap)
Let me jump in on this discussion :)
I played Civ IV since the day it was released and got Warlords quite a while ago already. I was usually playing Noble to get a challenging game for me. Due to the way I play (build almost no military until around 500 AD) because I just want the fun of...
Hehe found a quick solution already, didn't know that customizing the Games XML files was so easy :D it almost feels like playing an OpenSource game :D thumbs up for the devs!
That would be a sufficient solution for me :) but I don't really know how to do this. Does this work by just removing the civs from an XML file or something?
Edit:
Ahhh this works really nicely, I simply opened CIV4CivilizationInfos.xml from my BtS folder and
replaced...
Ok, I played a little further with this and it's actually enough when I completely remove the Civ folders in My Games instead of re-installing. Also when choosing the same Civs in different order the game loads just fine but when I choose exactly this order the game crashes how is that possible?!?
I really like to play custom games with certain civs but it's really annoying that I have to select the Civs I like to be in the game every time again when starting a custom game. The map settings are all stored is there a way I can also store the civs I used in my last custom game?
I don't know what this is but it seems like a really stupid bug. Here's what I have done:
Fresh install of Civ IV, Warlords, BTS all with default settings and then applied patches as necessary (namely BTS 3.03)
My OS is Vista x64 and I use Blue Marble 3.00 and SmartMap 9.1 (please note...
I have a problem with Civ 4 crashing on very large maps due to Civ 4 trying to address more than 2 GB of virtual address space. I have 4 GB Ram and 6 GB Paging File so there is plenty enough capacity available.
For the game Supreme Commander it was possible to set a large address aware bit in...
Stupid question but where do I put harkonnen.ini with this patch? I copied all in the main dir replacing zlib1.dll and placing the other files there as well but I get Can't find harkonnen.ini immediately after trying to launch the game before anything initializes.
I attached a screenshot of Civ IV memory usage one turn before the bad allocation crash. So a simple out of memory is no explanation, as you can see there's plenty more Ram left for Civ IV to use.
Actually I can assing 3 GB to a 32-bit process (at least that works for Photoshop CS2 32-bit with PAE enabled). Anyway Civ IV doesn't even eat more than 1,5 GB Ram at the time of crashing although there is plenty more Ram left.
Some more info:
Memsaver does absolutely not affect this issue, I can't tell if I can do more or less turns with the option on or off so I don't really know what's this option for.
Also when I un-install Blue Marble (which is the only mod I am using) I can only make 2-3 turns at most which...
