ok maybe not..lol i'm starting to sound like a moron here. i have MGE and i read up here that it'll support bitmaps. so can i just replace the .gifs with bmps?

I use Photo Shop to edit the units..I don't know if that's the right one to use, but I don't feel like spending $60 for Paint Shop Pro.

I get an error message every time I try to edit the units.gif file for the basic game. Everything goes fine when I create a unit for the basic game until I go replace the Extra Land, Ship, Air units. Everytime I get done creating new units and putting them in units.gif and go to play the game I get an error message such as: Civ2 has caused and error in Civ2.exe Civ2 will now close. Can someone please help me with editing units?

Everytime I get done editing my units.gif file, I go to load the game and it comes up with an error message like: Civ2 has caused and error in CIV2.EXE. Civ2 will now close. If you continue to experience problems, try restarting your computer. Can someone please tell me the right way...
