I respond less to how they look than the period of their clothes, background etc.. It bothers me when they look "ahead" or "behind" their state of development. I miss that from the earlier versions.
I appreciate it just the same. Thanks.
I've e-mailed EA for support as it still shows on their support site. We'll see how that goes. I'll post their reply.
I for one hope that posters like tezster and the like do not listen to your suggestion.
There is more to strategy than pure numbers analysis. I enjoy reading about broader principals and strategies to reach a variety of goals. At the same time, it's also interesting to see the analysis...
Tried that and the DS3D (or whatever that line is) = 0.
It's a brand new laptop which leads me to the hardware conclusion. I still haven't contacted EA yet. But since they still have it available in retail bundles, support should still exist.

I've even tried backing up the .ini file from my working install on my desktop (with the change above). No joy. The game is still active on the EA support site. Today I e-mail them.
I've been doing about 1.5 - 2 workers per city but I don't work them that way. I rotate a few working individually, then have 2-4 grouped together to do rapid improvements. That way a jungle can be cleared and a plantation built in a few turns instead of 12-18 (I can't remember if 12 turns for...
I remember Outpost. Never really dug into it. I might still have it kicking around somewhere.
I've been going through my old/older games, hence the SMAC thing... and found a few that I want to light up again. Independence War is another. On the tripleX front, I used to play a bunch of PBEM...
On my desktop, SMAC was installed before I updated to SP2. Perhaps all that's needed is tweak to the 2000/XP compatability patch. Might have to send an e-mail to Firaxis, just to see if there's anything else to try. I did do the "send error report" thing and I'm going to keep doing that. Not...
Trying to get SMAC running on your laptop and not having much luck so I install, patch, uninstall...etc. In the flurry of uninstalling Sid Meier's Alpha Centari I missclick and uninstalled Sid Meier's Civilization IV. The play disk has been a permanent fixture in my laptop. Ask me if I can find...
Mostly because I just want to whine about it, I started another "can't get it to run thread". I get the good 'ol "terran.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." message.
I've done fresh installs, patching, the 2000/XP compatabilty patch. Can't...
