    Patch 1.21 bugs & problems.

This patch is crap! The science advisor now gives you advice that actually reflects the game situation! Obviously, glitchy beyond belief.

    New Unit: Grunt

I like the idea of a militia unit. Longbow/Swordsmen would upgrade to it (for a high price). Comes w/ replaceable parts, but it's cheaper and weaker than infantry, and never expires. Thanks!

    Patch v1.17f README is here!

What? How do I pawn off Free Artistry and such dead techs now?

    Let's build a UN!

Military Start military regulation - Allows the following military options. Only passable if UN nations have the majority of the world's military units. Nuclear reduction treaty - All members may only have 5 nukes max. ABM treaty - bans SDI systems for members Cancel ABM Cancel...

    Let's build a UN!

I don't much care for the fact that the UN is only used for diplo victory. Therefore, I will propose a more detailed UN model. Firaxis probably won't care, but that doesn't stop most of the posters here. Starting the UN When the UN is built, the following civs become members: - Anyone...

    Phillip Jose Farmer's Riverworld

I think an accurate Ringworld wouldn't be too much fun because it is supposed to be uncontrollably vast. Just one of the maps of the planets is enough for a single civ3 map. Someone could do the Map of Mars or Kzin, but there's not much information about them in the books.

    Who needs a navy anymore?

Firaxis oughta do this: Move your ship (any combat ship, but subs and privateers don't reveal national identity) next to an enemy city w/ harbor and set it on "Blockade". Like fortify, it requires a full turn to do. The blockaded city cannot use its port for trading. If the ship is engaged...

    New Scenario: Violence 2000

Agreed! Let's! Huh? It's a republic. Tryranny by the majority is bad - tyranny by the minority is worse. A (modern) government governs by the mandate of the people, not by the fiat of a well-informed elite. Of course, the US would be a better place if all citizens had a good...

    New Scenario: Violence 2000

It is well that the combined people of Hicksville, Nowhere have less effect on the government than the people of LA. Why should people in rural areas be more strongly weighted than people in urban areas? This is disproportionate and unfair - against what the US is founded on. A person in...

    No Tech Stealing During War?

It is quite tough to just steal enemy tech (unless it's something obvious like the wheel), so i think this is a good decision. But no investigate city? Really, how hard is it to put a few guys with binoculars on a hill near the enemy city? Getting rid of spoils of war also isn't that...

    New Scenario: Violence 2000

Lizy, before the one man, one vote system that allows modern democracy was instituted, voting was based on ownership of land. Do you really think that we should go back to that?

Jeff Morris's Strategy Briefs @ Avault

Intel Agency? I smell an small wonder... Also, I doubt that the Panzer is actually weaker than the base unit, the Tank. Perhaps it's more like 14.8.3 for the Tank.

More from people who have Civ3

SMAC gave everyone votes based on population, excpet for the Peacekeepers and a certain Secret Project, which both gave bonus votes. A variety of proposals, including trade pacts, rules for atrocities, governor and supreme leader elections, and evironmental changes, could be proposed. Most...

To a Militaristic Society, is not a barracks cultural?

I tnink Cunobelin is absolutely right. A big army is in line with the character of a Militaristic civ, while a factory is applicable to an industrious civ. Unlikely that this will make it to the game, but it is a great idea anyway.

    Colonies

The colonies seem like a necessary, useful part of the new resource system. Resources will be located in convienient places for cities and are cheaper than cities, especially if you don't care about growing your empire. I think I will send colonizers ahead into new areas with the explorers and...
