Yes, I play on a Mac so have to turn the graphics down for acceptable turn speed. :)
Observatories seem to really come into play with cities 10+ population. +50% science is nothing to sneeze at, but I did settle on the river. I think immediate production is beneficial.

Looks good, but I second the changes to Egypt. Perhaps moving the Nile further west, adding plains next to the flood plains. As is the region is unplayable.
North looks superb. Alps slightly overdone, taking out one "line" of mountains will make this map perfect. :)
This was my knee-jerk reaction after seeing that "Oh Lordy! Expansion" ... then the slight monetary buzzkill. I agree that it is industry standard.
I do think that a push for discounts on future expansions that correlate with DLC purchases is beneficial for both sellers and buyers of games.
Are you planning on paying $30 for Gods & Kings? Is it worth it? Or is it a money-sucking endeavor by Sid Mier & Co.?
I was interested in GK, still am - but am off-put by the price. Seems a bit hefty, considering all the DLC, though the features they are adding are tantalizing... should they...

Ain't that the truth? I play through hundreds of turns for 4-5 hours and... the victory screen slaps me in the face! I do enjoy the graphs like you mentioned; I'll glance through them all.
