I for one am glad that there are others like Spiff around. For a while before I found this site I thought I was the only out there with a job and family-life who spent hours conquering the world. I started off playing while I was in school where it was ok to stay up til 3AM playing "just one...
I like to perfect my cities too. But I hate leaving other civ's alone for too long, because if they're untouched then they can spend too much time building their techs and getting advanced units.
One nice trick I've found is to map out their territory and find one of their outer cities...
How do you get them to give you money? They just declare war on me or say "ha we ignore your feeble threats"...even though I'm like 50 times more powerful than they are.
Spiff, excellent deductions...obviously you remember the age of Atari's etc. As a matter of fact, I'll turn the big 3-0 on Jan 28th (I feel my bones creakin' already).
