Personaly, I stayed with C3C until the C4 Gold came out. Mostly due to reading about all the bugs, and expecting the majority to be fixed by this time.

That was one of the things I loved about civ 2, along with the ability to change civs (roman to german for instance) using the cheat button.

OK that all makes sense, so how about a small bordering city (3-5) that goes into revolt to join your empire but doesn't. (playing celts, it is korean) would placing units in the city help or hurt it to join your empire? open borders, natch.

Build the 1st city immediately then send out the second settler to the best spot as located by scout/warrior.
