Getting an error when trying to run the savegame editor and load a .SAV file and i get unknown file errors and not a civ 3 file, reinstalled both civ and the app using gold edition and trying to edit a conquests save

my bf and I play civ 3 on a lan game but after about 5 hours the game usually crashes so i was wondering is there an option or something to make it take less turns than normal to build things and complete scientific discoveries (tech) I dont want it to be instant but a few less turns to make...
