A scout can easily capture one of your workers but the worker is easy to catch back after that, unless you don't have horses. And as other ppl said just defend your civilian units, don't expect them to be totally safe anywhere, spread out your units, protect your strategics too.
I always try to clear as many barbarian camps as possible regardless just because of the gold. So my strategy doesn't really change all that much from being Authority or something else, it's just easier and more beneficial as Authority.
I sort the cities by number of great works to see all of them without having to scroll, and swap manually. I always liked the process but I'm probably in the minority.
You do get a tourism penalty against an AI who has less cities than you and they do get a tourism bonus toward you in the same manner, so that's one more con for wide.
"%-based" is replaced with "for every X citizens in the city", which is roughly the same thing. For example the Taj Mahal gives...
Not sure what to tell you. It's almost as if you're looking for excuses not to make the transition. I myself got a bit of trouble adjusting at first, so I can understand. If you think AIs are not aggressive enough toward you, you should definitely tune up the difficulty.

In standard speed it takes minimum 10 turns to be able to sign peace. No idea for quick speed but keep in mind VP is balanced around standard map size and speed. Also an archipelago map sure helps a lot to ease territorial tensions.

If you denounce and get at...
I agree that Tradition is probably the weakest ancient tree now, but not by a large margin. I find the weakness comes more from Tradition + Artistry together. Tradition with either Fealty or Statecraft still works pretty well for me.
That's basically how I play with Tradition as well now. I...
IMO the choice of buildings in a city is more meaningful if there is a maintenance cost on a situational building. If it doesn't cost any maintenance one might want to build it anyway for the +1 food and the Progress/Industry benefits, thus making the building less situational than it could be.
Reading this made me change my vote. Assyria is good enough already without relying on something that does break immersion. Not to mention it's not that hard to preserve those siege towers with minimal care.
I go the Drill line not for attacking cities but for the faster acquisition of Cover I and Cover II and eventually Stalwart. The only time I find it is worth attacking the city with infantry is when the garrison died on the same turn after I took shots with ranged and siege units. The very next...
