    Sid Meier Humble Bundle

I'm going to pay just under the average price so I don't have to take Civ V! Will be interesting if they do add extra games half way through the offer as they usually do. Only one I don't have (apart from CivV exapnsions) are the Ace Patrols. Are they any good?

    Playing Settler

VI is out but they've taken all the fun bits of V out.

What's the big deal about Hexagonal map grids?

Probably cos it stuffed the total war game system up entirely for years! hopefully its finally works in shogun.

Total War: Shogun 2 and the lessons 2k should learn from The Creative Assembly

yes, I had downloaded that but hadnt had a chance to try it yet, at that stage they weren't sure how much if any of the AI was present, but your report sounds good. still optimistic!

Total War: Shogun 2 and the lessons 2k should learn from The Creative Assembly

Incredible, people defending the Total War series! This series is a very good comparison with the Civ series. Epic feel, loved by the players, and then the series gets stuffed! Shogun(1) and MTW were innovative and brilliant, but by the end we needed more, we needed a stronger AI. And what did...

Is Civilization 4 best game ever?

well of the Civ games Civ4 is the best since it was the last Civ game produced. There was some experimental thing after it I think, but it obviously doesn't count. But best game ever? That has to be Speedball 2 on the Amiga. Actually, I think that probably closes this discussion, nothing more...

1000 Clues you should quite CiV for CIV

    20. you reminisce about the old days when games were played for enjoyment and not masochism.

Challenge for Us - Civilization VI

nice plan, pity about your chances. check out how far the open source civ is going.... Lets just hope someone, firaxis or other, takes the ideas; and I think the essential starting points should be hexes and massive AI investment; and eventually gives us something to play. I'm bored!

How many Civ IV fans are also PIRATES! fans?

We liked pirates too! Treat it as fun, not serious. I like using a native canoe as my main ship (with a galleon or other large ship to hold supplies). It wouldn't have taken too much though to make it MUCH better.

Were "stacks of doom" really that bad?

'wars are all in cities because of sod' - well, yeah, you're not fighting a war to win a farm tile, cities are the one and only goal of going to war, so if SOD concentrates fighting at the cities then surely thats a successful design!

    untill ''Shogun 2'' comes out...

interestingly, Civ and TW were my two favourite game series, until TW lost the plot and forgot to program AI. Haven't bought TW for several iterations now, and since CiV both companies are in the same boat, DO NOT BUY A GAME FROM THEM UNTIL INDEPENDENT GAMERS HAVE REVIEWED! Shogun2 sounds...

    civ 4 forums CIV6 wishlist

hexes emphasis on AI in all areas (no cheat/advantages AI) no 1upt - this is only good for Panzer General level wargames, not Civ level. Stupid decision. Maybe develop a seperate Civ unit-level battle game that can be linked in (units and terrain imported, results exported back to Civ6), but...

    Boredom with CIV5 demystified

All we wanted after STW and MTW was better AI, but they jumped the shark into pretty pictures and my second favourite franchise was gone. Reloaded Shogun and enjoying a 9 yo game! (but the AI needs improvement!) CiV: same thing - pretty pictures but can't play the game and doesn't make an...
