I'm going to pay just under the average price so I don't have to take Civ V! Will be interesting if they do add extra games half way through the offer as they usually do. Only one I don't have (apart from CivV exapnsions) are the Ace Patrols. Are they any good?

nice plan, pity about your chances. check out how far the open source civ is going.... Lets just hope someone, firaxis or other, takes the ideas; and I think the essential starting points should be hexes and massive AI investment; and eventually gives us something to play. I'm bored!

We liked pirates too! Treat it as fun, not serious. I like using a native canoe as my main ship (with a galleon or other large ship to hold supplies). It wouldn't have taken too much though to make it MUCH better.

'wars are all in cities because of sod' - well, yeah, you're not fighting a war to win a farm tile, cities are the one and only goal of going to war, so if SOD concentrates fighting at the cities then surely thats a successful design!
