Which do you think is the weakest civ/leader?

Wang it terrible due to his lack of military and annoying his neighbors. It must have to do with his peaceweight. I've never seen him independent past the maceman/knight period. Toko and SB can sometimes be powerhouses given a good start.

    Taking down a behemoth?

Hadn't thought of that, Read Snaaty's Persian tale for a good example of that strategy in the final battle, as well as a good read in general. That's the first time I understood the advantage of a planned retreat and counter-attack.

    Taking down a behemoth?

Leave some border cities in key locations lightly defended and keep your stacks behind them. When he takes them use the advantage of culture and roads to pulverize his stacks with artillery and bombers. Send in gunships to cut the roads he uses to reinforce. Thats the best way to kill a...

    Conquistador upgrade question...

I'd keep some veteran conq's without upgrading them to cavalry. Towards the end of your gunpowder wars, when you're mopping up, it's nice to have a few in a cavalry stack. For example if your main stack is taking inland cities with siege and city raiders, you can cut loose your cavalry to...

    What's your worst military disaster?

At the time, not knowing the meaning of WHEOOHRN. Huge map, killed of America and was fighting Bismark who held the center. Bismark was about to go down. Japan and Aztecs were sealed behind Bismark and were suspiciously peaceful. I was on good terms with both, but early in the game they...

Specific dumb things you've seen the AI do

Charlemagne did the dumbest thing I've seen. He was on a mid sized island, lots of wonders in his capital, and had one seperate city far away on and island off the coast of Ragnar. That seperate city was pretty large due to fish and clams although the island itself was small and surrounded by...

    Worst UU - France's Musketeers

Muskateers are very good. By the time you get them, you probably already have veteran city raiders, siege units and hopefully some mounted. So in an offensive war, all you need is stack protection, counter attackers (kill enemy SOD), and units to hold new territory. Musketeers are great in...

    Carriers (space)

I always thought the American UU should be the Supercarrier. No other country has one and they are so useful in projecting power to far away places. Many countries have elite special ops units like the Seals, maybe not as good but close. And there's also the pioneering aspect to American...

Some general questions, and questions about the Noble to Monarchy jump

I didn't see this mentioned but charismatic leaders will get +1 happiness in all cities from Stonehenge (or monuments you build), so its definitely worth considering. It really depends on how far your neighbors are and if an early rush is economically feasible. If they are far away, an early...

Is BetterAI really better? Let's find out

Pacal is usually weak in troops, so you could do a short war and take his oil island and ask for peace. Then gear up for a full scale war with Hannibal. Pacal looks to have curisairs while Hannibal will be landing cavalry, rifles and cannons and his navy is probably pretty big. If you...
