[BTS] DAR - Prince - Pangea - Normal - Default settings

Thank for the tips. Anyway, I decided to finish this game and I guess, this thread also. - Used two golden ages to grow, but in the meanwhile two blocks formed. I had a pact with the Persians, while the Romans vassaled the Sumerians and the Carthagineans ! - The Romans attacked the Persians and...

[BTS] DAR - Prince - Pangea - Normal - Default settings

What I am doing here ? I am practising golden ages... or trying to. Just finished one. As I wrote, I went back to 400 AD, before the assault on Carthage, and for some reason I had many more losses this time, so I had pretty much no units left to continue the war. I did bulb Printing Press...

[BTS] DAR - Prince - Pangea - Normal - Default settings

Ok, I went back to 400 AD, before the golden age and while still at war with Carthago. I played on until 1010 AD. I kind of messed up the war and lost more units while assaulting Carthago, so I sued for peace. At least I got rid of obsolete units. I waited a little longer before starting the...

Well, good points, I will try to avoid war if I don't see gains to be made. On the other hand, most of my games so far had been Marathon, and I have been reading tips that on Marathon you do need a standing army. Might have been the wrong civ game though :)

[BTS] DAR - Prince - Pangea - Normal - Default settings

Ok, thank you for all the tips. I understand that I was not able to getting the maximum out of the golden age, also because this is the first golden age I ever triggered. I hadn't quite grasped that food-producing tiles do not get any bonus from the gold ages at all, so I might try that again...

[BTS] DAR - Prince - Pangea - Normal - Default settings

I played on until 660 AD, trying to follow tips. What happened ? As adviced, I beelined to Mmusic, got a great artist and after letting my popolation grow a little I started a golden age, which is still in progress. I had made sure to research Civil service first so that I can use Burocracy and...

[BTS] DAR - Prince - Pangea - Normal - Default settings

Thank you all for the tips and thanks to lymond for the saved game with the notes. This is my thoughts / how I went about it: So the general idea is to cottage your commerce town(s), typically on a river, but in most towns you will concentrate on specialists. Food towns can be far away from...

[BTS] DAR - Prince - Pangea - Normal - Default settings

Well, I made no mistery that I used the world builder to convert the prince game to monarch. I added an archer to all other civs, only in case of the romans I added by accident also a lion. You can check that yourself in the save file attached in this post. The world builder is kind of...

[BTS] DAR - Prince - Pangea - Normal - Default settings

This time I decided to go peaceful and just take on barbarian towns. But the Romans decide to settle a town between one barbarian town I conquered and my main. It isn't as bad as it looks, though. I managed to keep my economy afloat and expand, solidly whipping. Having access to stone and...

[BTS] DAR - Prince - Pangea - Normal - Default settings

Next time I guess, I left them on. I played until 975 BC. I have been peaceful and founded 5 towns, not sure when I will found the 6th near stone, as technologically I am a little behind.

[BTS] DAR - Prince - Pangea - Normal - Default settings

Oook - I guess I will start over, but if I to have to play this map again I guess I would need to increase the difficulty level to Monarch. I agree that it is probably not a good idea to keep playing this game, as I would be slacking because it seems pretty much won. I took the 4000 save, gave...

[BTS] DAR - Prince - Pangea - Normal - Default settings

What's wrong with my promotions :) ?. Anyway, I played on until 520 AD. Saved games here. The war with Carthago goes one. But it is only in 200 AD, after several skirmishes in the Carthaginean forests, that the Khmer troops manage to lay siege to Utica. With 0% research, we have been...

[BTS] DAR - Prince - Pangea - Normal - Default settings

Thank you lymond and Gumbolt for the tips. I should be able to play on tonight or tomorrow. Yes, right, I deleted those stone warriors. It kinds of ruins the immersion for me, having stone warriors in the middle ages or the industrial age for that matter :) But I understand that from a gameplay...

[BTS] DAR - Prince - Pangea - Normal - Default settings

I guess I slacked with the whip lately :) also because I wanted towns to grow and do more research, and I have pretty much solved problems with happyness... I will go back to more whipping, I guess. Thanks for the save @Gumboldt, that is a lot of horse archers and ass kicking ! What is so great...
